The Agents of SHIELD Will Become the World's Most Wanted

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going on hiatus in February, and a new trailer for the episode "All the Comforts of Home" teases what to expect next.

The stars of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have finally returned to the present, but it seems they're now the world's most wanted.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. certainly has a history of reinventing itself. The series pulled off a radical story change in season 5, transforming the series that once centered on hunting down 0-8-4s into a dark, atmospheric sci-fi show unlike anything Marvel TV has made to date. Coulson and his team were unwillingly sent into a dystopian future, one where the Earth had been shattered by Quake's power. And after several weeks, they've finally managed to save humanity in the future, but now they must find a way to rewrite history and save humanity in the past (or present).

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is going on hiatus in February while the Winter Olympics air, and it'll return in four weeks. ABC released a new trailer teasing the team's fate when they return to the past. You can watch the trailer in the section above.

As is shown in the trailer, the S.H.I.E.L.D. team is returning to a very dangerous situation. It's easy to forget that season 4 ended with S.H.I.E.L.D.'s reputation in tatters. The organization seemed to have gone rogue, and a Daisy LMD launched an assassination attempt on General Talbot. In fact, when season 4 came to a close, the agents were expecting to be arrested (depicted at the start of season 5).

The next episode bears the ironic title "All the Comforts of Home," and it's a safe bet there will be precious few comforts. S.H.I.E.L.D. has been missing for at least six months, and they've been the subject of a global manhunt. As Daisy reflects in the trailer, they're not just wanted - they're "most wanted." But this isn't anything new for them. However, this time round, the FBI isn't just hunting down any remaining S.H.I.E.L.D. agents; they have a short list of targets - and Coulson and Daisy are at the top of the list. Worse still, it's unlikely S.H.I.E.L.D. have many safe-houses left.

Moreover, the episode will no doubt explore the repercussions of "Past Life," especially the tension between Daisy and Coulson. Daisy didn't actually want to return to the present, and as useful she is to the team, her primary motivation right now is finding a way to avert a world-ending future. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have brought its heroes home, but life really isn't about to get any easier for Coulson and his team.
