Agents of SHIELD Teases Ruby vs. Quake in 'The Honeymoon' Trailer

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. promises the ultimate grudge match in the promo for the next episode, "The Honeymoon." Ruby is finally ready to go rogue, and she has her sights set on killing Daisy Johnson. This is the fight fans have been waiting for.

Dove Cameron's Ruby has been one of the highlights of season 5 so far. The character is a formidable villain and a deadly warrior who's willing to go to any lengths to draw Quake out of hiding. When Ruby made her first appearance, fans thought she was nothing but a Quake fan girl. However, little by little, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has revealed she's actually a sinister foe. After all, Ruby did slice off Yo-Yo's arms as part of an insane plan to draw Daisy out.

It seems matters are coming to a head in "The Honeymoon" trailer (above). Coulson and Talbot escaped, and - informed by a sketch courtesy of the precognitive Robin - the S.H.I.E.L.D. team are rushing to his rescue. But Coulson and Talbot are being hunted by Ruby, who now views Daisy as competition. It's time for the two potential "Destroyers of Worlds" to go head-to-head. Notice how careful Ruby is to make it personal, removing her mask so the two warriors can look each other in the eyes as they brawl.

The teaser suggests Ruby is about to put her own plan in motion. Until now, she's been willing to allow her mother to call the shots. But Ruby is fiery and rebellious, and she knows General Hale is becoming an obstacle. Ruby has already been plotting behind her mother's back, persuading the young Strucker to side with her against Hale. It looks as though Strucker will push Ruby to make a stand - and General Hale will find herself on the wrong side of her own daughter.

As thrilling as this fight may be, this trailer's most surprising twist is that it doesn't show Fitz, Simmons, and Yo-Yo. The episode title, "The Honeymoon," clearly refers to Fitz and Simmons heading off on a side-mission to recover Daniel Whitehall's Infusion machine. It seems likely Marvel have a few unexpected plot twists planned for that part of the story, and are reluctant to give the game away. With that particular trio convinced they're "invincible," they're sure to take some (more) insane risks. They're assuming the future is set in stone, but it's always possible they're wrong, and tragedy will stalk the team once again.
