Clark Gregg's bloody directorial effort for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may shorten up the show's cast list. Gregg first appeared as Phil Coulson at the very beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Iron Man. His supporting role blossomed in the films to come, leading to him playing a crucial role in The Avengers. Coulson's death in 2012 was thought to be his last appearance, but the inception of S.H.I.E.L.D. changed all of that. Instead of dying at the hand of Loki, Coulson was brought back to life to captain now five seasons of his own show.

While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has continued to shift the focus towards Daisy (Chloe Bennet), Coulson is still at the heart of the show. Even after all this time, the writers are still finding new challenges for Coulson to face. But, in season 5, it is Gregg who also received a challenge: to direct an episode. He isn't directing just any episode however, with the bloody episode set to be a big part of this season.

EW spoke to Gregg about his directorial effort for S.H.I.E.L.D. and got him to tease some major events in the new episode. Not only is he in charge of showing Daisy aka The Destroyer of Worlds' big fight scene, but it also includes the introduction and transformation of a new Inhuman, played by Coy Stewart. Even still, Gregg's biggest tease comes with the bloody nature of the episode and possibly saying goodbye to a few characters.

It’s a bloody episode, with a bunch of people saying goodbye. I read it and I was squealing. ‘This is going to be fun!’ and it was.

Thankfully, there will not be too long of a wait to see what Gregg is teasing, but it appears to be big. Gregg teases two major fights are in his episode, one of which is the aforementioned battle with Daisy. That fight and the other mystery one should add to the bloody nature Gregg is teasing, but it also sounds like the blood won't just be from a few scratches. It actually sounds like S.H.I.E.L.D. may kill off a few characters when his episode airs (which is tonight, as of this writing).

It would be a major shock if Daisy died in her battle, so much so that it is basically out of the realm of possibility. If there is going to be one major casualty for S.H.I.E.L.D., it could be Melinda May's (Ming-Na Wen) time to go. The show previously teased that Kasius' right-hand gal Sinara had a bloody encounter with May. It is possible we get to see that battle play out, but the results will not be what viewers will want. This is just speculation at this point, and with the episode airing soon, we'll know sooner rather than later what goes down.
