Marvel TV producer Geoffrey Colo celebrates five years of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with a throwback video from the show's first season. Marvel TV's first offering, the series has been on the air since 2013. Following the supposed death of Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) in Joss Whedon's The Avengers, fans reunited with the character via the series where he led his own team of super agents. Together, they took on various unusual cases and enemies. While they have been barely acknowledged by their film counterparts, the show tackled whichever franchise-shaking events were happening on the big screen like the enactment of the Sokovia Accords (Captain America: Civil War).
It will be a little bit of a wait before new episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. come fans' way with season 6 not premiering until July of next year. Production for the upcoming season is currently underway with the premiere episode going to be directed by Gregg. But while everyone is looking forward to what lies ahead in its narrative, the series' producer took a trip down memory lane to commemorate the program's fifth year anniversary.
Colo took to his official Twitter account and posted a montage of nifty shots from the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Throughout its five-year run, the series has subjected Coulson and his team to countless dangerous situations, and through its ups and downs, its loyal fan base stuck with the show. Looking back at how it all started naturally made some viewers emotional and nostalgic, especially considering how far the show has come. Watch the clip below:
It's unclear how long ABC is planning on doing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. considering how long it took for them to confirm that they're bringing the series back for a sixth season. During the wait, many were convinced that the network will pull the plug on the series, including the show's writers who admitted that they crafted the season 5 finale to also double as a satisfying end to the Marvel TV pioneering project. Luckily, the renewal announcement eventually came through, although its usual 22-episode run will be chopped off to just 13. Nonetheless, fans were happy about the news and have been looking forward to what lies ahead for Daisy and the remaining agents since the show is expected to tackle the events of Avengers: Infinity War and its aftermath. This is also the reason behind Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6's delayed premiere, releasing after Avengers 4 has already hit theaters.
Aside from dealing with the aftermath of Infinity War, fans are also looking forward to learning about Coulson's fate after officially retiring from his S.H.I.E.L.D. post to spend the remaining of his life in peace and relaxation with May by his side. In the bigger MCU picture, the Avengers remains unaware that Coulson is still alive (albeit not for very long). It's curious to know whether or not this will eventually gets resolved one way or another. Coulson was the common thread tying all of the franchise's Phase 1 films together, it would've been such a disservice to the character if his original superhero pals never learned what really happened to him.
