Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. actor and director Clark Gregg reveals the series' 100th episode will 'destroy' fans. The Marvel show debuted on ABC in 2013 as the first TV spinoff from the film side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Starring Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has followed him and his team as they face various threats - everything from ancient Inhumans to a Hydra-filled virtual reality. Now in its fifth year, the Marvel series has taken its stars on an entirely new adventure.

In the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 premiere, Coulson and the majority of his team found themselves trapped on a space station roughly 90 years in the future. In addition to venturing into uncharted territory for the Marvel series, season 5 will also mark Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s 100th episode, which is expected to air in March. Little is known about the 100th episode, though Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb did say it will feature a "significant event." Now, Gregg offers his own tease about what fans can expect from the milestone episode.

In an interview with Screen Rant about directing the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode 'Fun & Games', Gregg said fans can expect, "Some big things. A very big thing," in the 100th episode. Gregg went on to offer a hint at how fans will react to that "big thing" in the show's milestone episode: "A very big thing that has been hinted at in my episode that will - if you’re like me, it will destroy any long term fans of the show."

Gregg's hint at the 100th episode is, of course, extremely vague - though that's to be expected considering Marvel is famous for keeping details about its productions close to the vest. But since Loeb and Gregg have promised something major happening in this particular episode, fans may be glad to avoid any kind of spoilers. When Loeb teased the "significant event", he also mentioned the agents will be looking to find a way home from space. Given the agents are dealing with time travel, the destruction of Earth, and a band of Kree overlords, it's certainly possible the 100th episode will have major ramifications on the future of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Of course, we won't know exactly what the 100th episode has in store for Coulson and his team until it debuts later this year. Gregg's 'Fun & Games' was episode 94 of the series overall, so fans still have a few episodes to see before the big milestone event. And, as we've seen in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 so far, a great deal can happen in a single episode. So, until the show's 100th episode airs, fans will have to speculate about what it will entail - and pore over Gregg's 'Fun & Games' for the clue he mentioned that hints at what we can expect when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hits 100 episodes.
