After a multi-episode absence, Robbie Reyes is back to help the team take down AIDA in a new batch of images from the finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. All season long, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been laying the foundation for a number of plots that are set to culminate in next week's finale. And while it's easy to see how the LMD and Framework arcs will come together in AIDA's mater plan, it's been unknown how Ghost Rider would factor into the proceedings.

For some time, it seemed as if the power of the Darkhold and its influence on AIDA would be the only connection to the first arc of season four, but last week finally brought word that Ghost Rider would officially be returning in the season 4 finale to help the team against the season's big bad. While the specifics are still unknown, it's clear that AIDA's new abilities and link to the Darkhold will help bring Robbie Reyes back into the action, hopefully causing him to stick around. And since it's looking more and more like S.H.I.E.L.D. will get a season 5 renewal, the promise of more Ghost Rider will certainly be a welcome one.

In the meantime, ABC has released some new images for the finale, titled 'World's End', that will bring back Robbie for the immediate future. Check them out in the gallery below:

While we don't see Robbie all lit up, he certainly seems like he's about to blow his top given the look on his face. We also get some shots of Coulson along with Quake all suited up. Then there's images that are likely inside the Framework of Radcliffe and Mack as the latter potentially says goodbye to his daughter and prepares to leave the virtual world. All told, it's shaping up to be an action-packed and emotional finale.

The finale photo shows Joris Jarsky, who plays the character Sergei. Likely a minion of the Superior's, this isn't actually Jorsky's first turn in the MCU. He previously had a small role in The Incredible Hulk as a soldier, meaning his appearance could constitute a movie connection. Either that, or he'll join the ranks of Alfre Woodard and Enver Gjokaj as two separate characters in the universe.

While we await the finale, tonight's episode is bound to be an intense one. Along with the action that's sure to arise, there will be a heavy focus on relationships. We've already seen a clip of Coulson and May attempting to address their status, while another one has teased the future of Fitz and AIDA. No matter what next seasons holds, the next two episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will be something to behold.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. continues tonight, May 9, on ABC with ‘The Return'.
