Marvel fans are looking forward to the future of the MCU and they can catch up on its past by streaming Marvel's Agent Carter, which is now available entirely on Hulu. Every piece of Marvel's content has been building up to the official debut of Thanos in the MCU, and there's far more to the story of Thanos's antagonist Captain America than what fans have seen in the movies.
Agent Carter focuses on Hayley Atwell's Margaret "Peggy" Carter, Steve Rogers' love interest from the comics who first appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger. After Captain America was frozen, jumping into the 21rst century and joining the Avengers, Peggy Carter worked with Howard Stark on a number of adventures, eventually becoming one of the founding members of S.H.I.E.L.D. Peggy has appeared in other films in the MCU as well, like Ant-Man, and her own one-shot focusing on how she worked with Howard Stark to found S.H.I.E.L.D.
The television series, however, focused solely on Peggy, putting her in a well-deserved spotlight. After the cancellation of Agent Carter, fans petitioned for Peggy to move to Netflix. Since, the stars and showrunners have voiced their hope for a revival of Agent Carter. Hulu has swept in and brought Peggy back - sort of - to the delight of fans everywhere and potential newcomers to Peggy's world. Both seasons of Agent Carter are now available to stream, introducing fans to new characters showcasing integral parts of the MCU like the beginnings of the infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. by Hydra and the origins of the red room that trained Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow.
The series delivered witty dialogue, funny jokes, powerful female characters, and a unique look at the MCU's timeline. Its premature cancellation broke the heart of fans and critics alike. There have been other strong female characters on Marvel TV programs, including many women who work for S.H.I.E.L.D. like Ming-Na Wen's Melinda May and Chloe Bennet's Daisy Johnson. Peggy, thanks to attentive fans and an unfinished storyline, however, has garnered a special degree of interest.
There have been many people who hoped for a return of the critically beloved heroine. This devotion, coupled with Atwell visiting Marvel Studios and a hoped-for cameo in Captain Marvel, has helped renew interest in the heroine. After all, Atwell's status was cut short thanks to ABC, not Marvel. The potential for a return from Agent Carter has never been higher.
Any fans hoping to catch up on the backstory of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in advance of Avengers: Infinity War can head over to Hulu and learn about just what shaped the destruction of S.H.I.E.L.D., the founding of the Avengers, the history of the Stark family as well as the Carter family, and the woman behind it all.
