Kathryn Hahn signs a new deal with Marvel Studios to reprise her role as WandaVision antagonist Agatha Harkness in both films and Disney+ shows. Hahn first brought the character to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe series where she pretended to be a nosy neighbor to Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany's titular heroes. The final three episodes of the series would ultimately reveal her true identity as the ancient witch seeking to take Wanda Maximoff's chaos magic powers.

Hahn's portrayal of Agatha in WandaVision scored rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for her seamless transition from a sitcom trope to the terrifying villain. The actress would land a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, becoming one of the first Marvel stars to earn an Emmy nod, though the statue would go to Juliette Nicholson for her turn in Mare of Easttown. While Hahn has initially expressed uncertainty about plans for Agatha's MCU future, it appears the studio is already getting to work to bring her back.

On the heels of word breaking that a spin-off series is in the works for her character, Deadline reports that Hahn has signed a larger deal with Marvel Studios. The new deal will allow Agatha to return in other MCU properties including Disney+ shows and movies. The spin-off series is reportedly in the early stages of development with WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer again serving as writer and executive producer.

As recently as September of this year, Hahn had admitted she hadn't heard word of future plans for Agatha to return to the MCU, though if recent reports are anything to go on, the actress is already skilled at the art of Marvel secrecy. The spin-off series is sure to get a lot of fans excited at the prospect for a proper spotlight on Agatha, but the new deal's establishment of having her cross over into other titles is the biggest point of interest from today's news. The MCU is well-known for its sharing of characters if the story calls for such an appearance, which makes Agatha's future in both Disney+ shows and big-screen films that much more intriguing.

While the Scarlet Witch's arc from WandaVision is expected to conclude with next year's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it certainly doesn't mean the end of the character's MCU tenure and Hahn's ongoing involvement as Agatha certainly seems to point towards such. Given the Disney+ series' finale seeing Wanda trapping Agatha in a mental prison while the latter warns of an unspeakable evil to come that only she seemingly knows about, it will be interesting to see how the two paths collide and what other roads Agatha will travel in the MCU beginning with her spin-off series. In the meantime, audiences can catch up on or revisit Agatha's franchise debut with WandaVision streaming entirely on Disney+ now.
