Reality show host and comedian Ken Jeong has officially joined the expanding cast of The Afterparty season 2. The murder-mystery series premiered on Apple TV+ in January 2022 to much critical acclaim for its genre-bending take on the 'whodunit' formula, as well as its hilarious performances by the show's ensemble cast. Created by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, The Afterparty season 1 centered on a high school reunion afterparty gone terribly wrong when pop star and former school loner Xavier (Dave Franco) is murdered. Detective Danner (Tiffany Haddish) must interview the remaining guests to find out the culprit. Each interview was showcased as a separate film genre, from a jaunty musical to a Fast and the Furious-style action movie.
Per Deadline, now, Community and The Hangover star Jeong has been announced as a series regular for The Afterparty season 2. The actor will play the role of Feng. However, no further details about his character or The Afterparty season 2's plot have been revealed. Jeong joins returning cast members Haddish as Detective Danner, Sam Richardson as Aniq, and Zoë Chao as Zoe.
Although it is unclear as to how many cast members from The Afterparty season 1 will return, Miller has previously hinted that more of the original cast will reprise their roles for season 2. The writer-producer also recently took to Twitter to hype up the season 2 cast while keeping their specific roles, and further details of the upcoming season's story, shrouded in mystery. Rounding out the roster of The Afterparty newcomers are Elizabeth Perkins as Isabel, Zach Woods as Edgar, Poppy Liu as Grace, Paul Walter Hauser as Travis, Jack Whitehall as Sebastian, Anna Konkle as Hannah, and Vivian Wu as Vivian. Whatever its plot, The Afterparty season 2 is shaping up to be just as star-studded and entertaining as its predecessor.
