The third movie in the After seriesAfter We Fell, has come to Netflix, raising key questions about the upcoming After Ever Happy's release date, story, and returning cast. Based on the third book in Anna Todd's series, After We Fell received negative reviews. However, just like the previous two movies, its debut on Netflix created a second wave of buzz. Though it's generated much criticism for the questionable message it sends about toxic relationships, there's no denying that the naive Tessa Young and the bad boy Hardin Scott have amassed a dedicated following.

After We Fell finds Tessa presented with the opportunity of a lifetime to move to Seattle and pursue her dream career, but her father's instability threatens to upend Tessa's newfound happiness. Meanwhile, devastating events at a house party break Tessa's trust in Hardin and their relationship suffers. Hardin and Tessa continue their toxic affair in After Ever Happy.

After We Fell sets up Josephine Langford's and Hero Fiennes Tiffin's Tessa and Hardin for an emotional ride in the fourth and final After movie, After Ever Happy. Fans finally have an answer to the question of whether or not there will be a 4th After movie. Here's what to expect from After Ever Happy, its release date, story, cast, and more.

After Ever Happy Release Date

After Ever Happy is set to premiere in American and European theaters on August 24, 2022 - narrowly missing the MCU's 2022 releases, which bodes well for the movie's future at the box office. Each movie in the After series has been released with about a year between entries, and After Ever Happy will be no different. It was shot back-to-back with After We Fell in the fall and winter of 2020, and in September 2021, director Castille Landon revealed on Twitter that she was finishing up post-production for the movie. It doesn't appear to have been hit with the Covid production or post-production delays of so many movies. Unfortunately, the UK and France will have to wait a little longer as After Ever Happy is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video sometime after its theatrical release. After We Fell arrived on Prime a little over a month after its U.S. theatrical release and it's likely After Ever Happy will follow the same release timetable.

After Ever Happy Returning Cast

Considering they wisely shot back-to-back, After Ever Happy will have less turnover than the third movie's cast. Josephine Langford and Hero Fiennes Tiffin will of course return as main protagonists Tessa and Hardin. Audiences can also expect main cast Chance Perdomo to return as Landon Gibson, Rob Estes to return as Hardin Scott, Louise Lombard to return as Trish Daniels, Frances Turner to return as Karen Scott, and Stephen Moyer to return as Christian Vance. Other returning After We Fell cast members include Carter Jenkins as Robert, Kiana Madeira as Nora, Jack Bandeira as James, and Atanas Srebrev as Richard Young, as well as Velizar Binev as Dr. West, Anton Kottas as Smith, Jordan Peters as Mark, Ryan Ol as Joe, and Tosin Thompson as Janine. Considering how After We Fell ended, it's notable that Arielle Kebbel's Kimberly won't be reprising her role in After Ever Happy.

After Ever Happy's Story

The explosive ending of After We Fell sets up the climax of Tessa and Hardin's story in After Ever Happy. The ending of the third movie revealed that Christian Vance is Hardin's real father. Considering this all came out after Hardin walked in on his mom and Vance sleeping together on the eve of his wedding to Kimberly, there's bound to be enormous fallout from that. Indeed, After Ever Happy's movie plot could turn out to be the best in Anna Todd's After series, as an early teaser for After Ever Happy reveals that Tessa and Hardin will face their toughest relationship test yet, with Tessa's voiceover saying, "We're just a bomb waiting to explode," and "I'm sorry I couldn't fix you." Meanwhile, the official After Every Happy trailer sees Hardin sinking deeper into darkness in London following his mother's wedding. With the fourth After movie underway, Tessa will have to choose between saving Hardin and saving herself, questioning the validity behind their toxic relationship. Clearly, After Ever Happy will be the make-or-break final movie of Tessa and Hardin's love story.
