The beloved show Adventure Time is perhaps one of the most popular cartoons of the last twenty years and this has in part been due to its unique characters. One of those is Lady Rainicorn, Princess Bubblegum's most trusted friend, and Jake's girlfriend.

Sweet, intelligent, and a little wild, the half-unicorn, half-rainbow creature from the crystal dimension, quickly became a fan-favorite. As one of the more interesting characters on the show, there are a few things that most of us didn't know about her. Therefore, here is a list of ten interesting facts about her.

She Speaks Korean

Unlike most of the characters on the show, she doesn't speak English and instead speaks Korean. Her voice actress Niki Yang, who is also a storyboard artist on the show, used to get the script in English and then translate it.

In The Land Of Ooo, only a few people like Jake and Princess Bubblegum, understand her, which leads to a pretty interesting and entertaining dynamic.

Lady Rainicorn Also Embraces Korean Culture

Lady Rainicorn, unlike many characters on the show, seems to embrace a human culture. In many episodes, the show has had subtle references to things like Korean customs, food, and even the Korean War.

Seemingly, she even taught Jake how to cook traditional Korean meals as was seen in the season three episode, "Apple Thief".

From the start of Lady Rainicorn's regular portrayal on the show, it was rumored that she spoke English in the Korean dubbed version of the show.

However, that is nothing more than a crazed fan theory, and Lady Rainicorn actually speaks Korean with her voice being slightly distorted in order to create the same effect.

In The Original Animated Short, She Spoke Gibberish

Adventure Time, like many great cartoons, it first started as an animated short. Back in 2008, it aired on Nicktoons as part of its Random! Cartoons segment. The short had most of the show's main characters, including Lady Rainicorn.

Yet, she is noticeably different as she didn't speak any recognizable language but instead communicated using a range of strange sounds. Thankfully, the show decided to go a different route, and fans got to see the Lady Rainicorn that they grew to love.

Jake Could Understand Her

One of the more stranger things about Lady Rainicorn in the animated short is that Jake was able to understand her.

As all fans know, in the actual show, Jake and Lady Rainicorn bond over their mutual love for the viola. In the animated short, the two are seen having a brief conversation, although not one that anyone can understand, about their affection for the stringed instrument.

Her Rainbow Has No Orange

Lady Rainicorn is clearly based on the match-up of a unicorn and a rainbow. However, as any pre-schooler knows, orange is one of the main colors of a rainbow and yet Lady Rainicorn strangely goes without it.

Now, why that is, is anybody's guess. As most viewers didn't even notice it and adore the way she looked, it really didn't matter that she was one color short.

Her Gender-Swapped Version Used Morse Code

"Fiona and Cake" is perhaps one of the best episodes of the show. Fans got to see gender-swapped versions of their favorite characters. Prince Gumball's trusty stead is Lord Monochromicorn.

He is the opposite of Lady Rainicorn in more than just his gender. He is completely black and instead of speaking English or Korean, he communicates using Morse Code.

Two Of Her Pups Are Siblings In Another Show

Adventure Time is well-known for its incredibly talented voice cast and two of the voice actors for Lady Rainicorn's Pups, share a very interesting coincidence.

Her two kids, T.V and Jake Jr. are voiced by Dan Mints and Kristen Schaal respectively. In the animated sitcom, Bob's Burgers, the two play sisters Tina and Louise Belcher.

Lady Rainicorn And BMO Share The Same Voice Actress

If the voice of BMO, Jake and Finn's sentient video game console, sounds familiar, that will be because she is also voiced by Niki Yang.

BMO was at first going to have a regular computer-synthesized voice and luckily they decided better. Instead, they hired Yang who used her normal speaking voice for the role with a few changes. Therefore, it was almost possible that fans would have lost one of the most unique sounding characters on the show.

Her Universal Translator Is Voiced By Creator Pendleton Ward

Lady Rainicorn doesn't speak English, except for a few words as was seen in the episode "Lady & Peebles". Therefore, in the episode "My Two Favourite People", Jake wanted Finn and Lady Rainicorn to get to know each other better and they used a universal translator device.

To everyone's great amusement, she spoke in a range of weird voices with her finally settling on an old man one. Pendleton Ward, the creator of Adventure Time voiced all the different voice options on the device.
