New post-card themed character posters for The Addams Family 2 have been released. The iconic, ghoulish characters began life as cartoons in The New Yorker circa 1938. Since then, they have appeared on television in the 1960s with The Addams Family and graced the silver screen with live-action pictures in the 1990s, like Addams Family Values. In 2019, Gomez and his clan returned with a computer-animated film, soon to be followed up with a sequel.

The computer-animated Addams Family was met with a middling response but assembled a star-studded voice cast, including Oscar Isaac and Charlize Theron. That film told the story of the family being confronted by an unexpected force invading their community. In the sequel, "we find Morticia and Gomez distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and totally consumed with 'scream time'”. In an effort to bring the family together, they cram into their haunted camper for one last miserable Addams Family vacation. Their ensuing adventures will be sure to equally spook and entertain audiences, as the family run-in with the iconic Cousin It and other kooky characters.

Per Comicbook, newly-released posters for The Addams Family 2 lean into the vacation theme with post-card character posters. The posters display each of the main Addams family members, including Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday, Pugsley, Fester, and Cousin It. Each character gets their own kooky tag-line, like Morticia’s “having a hideous time” or Wednesday’s “I wish I weren’t here!”. Fans may want to look closely at the posters for clues to the film’s plotline. The San Francisco bridge and a well-placed cactus point to key locations on the family’s adventures.

While the summer has ended, moviegoers will get to enjoy the Addams’ adventures both in theaters and on PVOD. This is a necessary move due to the coronavirus pandemic, as families make the decision on whether to attend cinemas or stream from their home. A potential head-to-head race between Addams and Hotel Transylvania: Transformania in cinemas has also been averted due to the pandemic, with Transformania being moved to an Amazon Prime streaming exclusive.

Fans of the Addams family will be delighted to see the beloved characters returning in The Addams Family 2. The film is scheduled for an October 1 release date in the U.S., just in time for a spook-tacular Halloween. Addams fans are spoiled with choice in recent years, with Netflix winning a bidding war for Tim Burton’s series, Wednesday. That project recently cast You’s Jenna Ortega in the title role, with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán as the matriarch and patriarch of the family, respectively.
