Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy's new movie, The Adam Project, gets a March release date on Netflix. The actor and director first collaborated on the action-comedy Free Guy which was helmed by Levy and starred Reynolds as a bank teller who discovers he is actually a non-playable character in a massive open-world video game. The film debuted in theaters this past summer and was a surprise hit amid the coronavirus pandemic, grossing over $120 million domestically and ranking in the top 10 for the year.

Now, Reynolds and Levy have reteamed for another sci-fi adventure in The Adam Project, which centers on the titular character who travels back in time to team up with his younger self and confront their late father. Reynolds headlines the cast as Adam while Walker Scobell portrays his 12-year-old self in his screen debut. The Netflix film has also assembled an impressive supporting cast that includes Mark Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner as Adam's parents. Catherine Keener and Zoe Saldana have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Levy previously said the film would be released in early 2022, but now that much has been confirmed. The release date was announced in conjunction with a new image from The Adam Project that shows Reynolds' character standing next to his 12-year-old self gazing up at a seemingly significant light in the sky. With a premiere date now confirmed, expect the first trailer to arrive sometime soon, which will likely offer a little more in the way of plot details and what to expect from this sci-fi adventure.

Reynolds and Levy are looking to ride the box office success of Free Guy to a hit on Netflix, where Reynolds has already proven he is a huge draw. His 2020 action-thriller, 6 Underground, and the big-budget, star-studded caper film, Red Notice, both rank in Netflix's top 10 most-watched movies of all time, the latter sitting at number 1. With Reynolds at its lead star, a strong supporting cast, and a potentially heart-warming story, The Adam Project could have enough going for it to also crack Netflix's top 10 when it debuts in just a few months.
