Ryan Reynolds shared two first-look stills from the upcoming Netflix movie The Adam Project. The Adam Project is a science fiction time travel film written by the This Is Where I Leave You screenwriter Jonathan Tropper. Reynolds will be joined onscreen by Jennifer Garner, Zoe Saldana, and Mark Ruffalo, while being directed by Shawn Levy, director of Night at the Museum, Real Steel, and several episodes of Stranger Things.

Reynolds has a nonstop work ethic and has appeared in multiple films over the last decade: Deadpool, Deadpool 2, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Detective Pikachu, 6 Underground, Mississippi Grind, and Life. He has three upcoming films in post-production (The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Free Guy, and Red Notice) while he begins filming on The Adam Project. In The Adam Project, Reynolds plays a man that travels back in time in order to get help and advice from his younger self, with Ruffalo confirmed to be playing Reynolds’ father. The other roles have yet to be determined.

Reynolds, being the ever-busy working man, took to his Instagram to post two exclusive first-look stills from his upcoming Netflix movie. The first still shows Reynolds being followed through the woods by young actor Walker Scobell, with Reynolds seemingly in distress and Scobell showing irritation or anger through his body language. The second still is a behind-the-scenes photo of Reynolds, shirt bloodied from a recent scene, talking to director Levy in a warmly lit home while they are both focused on a cell phone screen.

While very little is known about The Adam Project, it seems that these photos might help reveal a few more details than what was previously known. For instance, in the first still, it can be assumed that the young boy following Reynolds through the woods is his younger self, making a hilarious suggestion that young him is scolding older him. In the second photo, the blood on Reynolds’ shirt reveals that there might be a little more action or fighting sequences than originally anticipated, piquing the interest of those that might have just been expecting a more emotionally-charged film. The stills also give the movie a more ethereal and otherworldly feel, with the characters walk through the thick brush of the woods and the warm atmosphere that emanates from the house Reynolds stands in.

Reynolds is one of the most tech-savvy and social media fluent celebrities, especially when it comes to the way he uses his own platform to share and promote his work with his fans. By revealing stills and teasers of stuff he’s currently working on, he builds anticipation and excitement that leads to a large payoff, which he is then able to use to work on, what seems like, any project that he wants. Reynolds is the real example of “if you build it, they will come” because he always builds it, and builds it well, and people always show up for him. A release date has not yet been announced for The Adam Project.
