15 Actresses Who REFUSE To Bare It All On The Big Screen

Plenty of actresses have stripped down for roles, but many women adamantly refuse to take it all off. Find out why they won’t give into the pressure.

Most major film stars have appeared nude at some point in their career. Nudity is a controversial and classic way to grab an audience’s attention. Some people argue that it is necessary to a story, while others argue it’s objectifying and crude.

Most actresses in Hollywood will come under fire when it comes to whether they will strip down on camera or not. If someone works in the movie industry, it’s assumed that nudity comes with the territory. However, some women simply won’t appear without any clothes.

Being scrutinized so intimately on the big screen is intimidating for some and empowering for others. Either choice is fine, but the number of women who will strip down is much greater than the women who won’t.

There are many reasons why women choose not to reveal themselves in movies, all of which are understandable. Whether it’s because they feel it’s objectifying, they’re insecure about their bodies, or they think it takes away from the value of the film, these leading ladies refuse to get naked on the big screen.

Here are the 15 Actresses Who Refuse To Bare It All On The Big Screen.

15 Emma Watson

Emma Watson in The Bling Ring

No one will see Hermione stripping down anytime soon. Emma has appeared in much more mature films since Harry Potter, such as This is End, but there are certain lines that she won’t cross. Watson knows that fans love the clean-cut image of Hermione and she doesn’t want to ruin it.

When asked by the press why she wouldn’t go nude, she said “I don’t want everyone to forget me as Hermione. I’m really proud of her.” She is now also known as Belle from Beauty and the Beast,  so it’s hard to imagine a Disney princess taking all of her clothes off on the big screen.

Right now, Watson is associated with some younger, more innocent roles, and it’s hard to see that changing anytime soon.

14 Megan Fox

Megan Fox in Transformers

Megan Fox is known to some as a sexy actress. However, she has never bared it all on a movie screen. She’s said she can’t imagine every doing nudity in a film. Speaking with MTV News, she once said “that’s the last thing I want to see — what I look like having sex."

Fox went on to say she thinks after watching that, she’d never be able to have sex again. She’d just be freaking out about what she had seen in the movie.

When photos form her “nude” scene in Jennifer’s Body appeared, Fox was upset. She revealed she was wearing pasties and it was not an image she wished to see in the film. It wasn’t a true nude scene.

She has no problem wearing revealing clothes in films, believing that regardless of what she’s wearing she can be taken seriously, but she makes a point to keep her clothes on in films.

13 Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba - Fantastic Four 2

Jessica Alba is an actress that many people seem to forget hasn’t actually been naked on the big screen. Since the beginning of her career, she has refused to appear nude. She even has a nudity clause written into her contract. Alba is aware that this could cost her acting jobs, but it doesn’t soften her resolve.

Fans that watched Machete thought they saw Alba nude in the shower scene, but it was actually computer generated. The underwear she was wearing was digitally removed. She also performs a strip tease in Sin City and appears in her underwear in Fantastic Four, but she is never completely naked in either film.

Why won’t she appear nude? “I don’t want my grandparents to see my boobs. That’s it,” she told Glamour magazine. That’s an extremely relatable reason.

12 Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick Pitch Perfect 2

Pitch Perfect’s Anna Kendrick has no problem with actresses that strip down, but she won’t be doing it herself. In an interview she told Telegraph “emphatically, no. I will not do that.”

It may have looked like her butt in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates but it was actually a body double. Kendrick pointed out in an interview for the film that she was asked about nudity a lot more than her male co-stars.

As Kendrick moves into more adult roles, she doesn’t plan on taking off all of her clothes. She believes that if she keeps doing what she’s doing, her career will continue just fine. An actress shouldn’t have to be naked to be taken seriously as an “adult” star.

11 Christina Hendricks

Christina Hendricks has been offered roles that require her to be nude, and she has turned them all down. Although she would love to act in movies, she’s not willing to take all of her clothes off in them. She wants people to focus on her acting abilities rather than her body.

Ever since her role on Mad Men, Hendricks has been bombarded with comments about her figure. During an interview with New York Magazine she said “anytime someone talks about your figure constantly, you get nervous, you get really self-conscious. I was working my butt off on the show, and then all anyone was talking about was my body!”

Hendricks wants to be recognized for her talent rather than for simply looking good.

10 Isla Fisher

Isla Fisher Keeping Up With The Jonses

Isla Fisher is another actress who would rather fake a nude seen than actually be shown with her clothes off. While she was a part of some pretty raunchy scenes in Wedding Crashers, she never stripped down for the role. During a sex scene with co-star Vince Vaughn, she opted for a body double. With a little bit of editing, the audience never realized it wasn’t actually Fisher.

Her reasoning? “I feel like if you have a female comic character and then you see her nipples, then she is no longer funny, which is clearly wrong, but that was my theory, and that’s why I didn’t want to do it,” she said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald.

9 Julia Roberts

Julia Roberts in Oceans 12

This “Pretty Woman” won’t be stripping down on the big screen anytime soon. Julia Roberts has vowed to never appear nude on camera since the 1990s. Although she did play a prostitute in Pretty Women, she never bared it all for the audience. The body that viewers saw wasn’t actually hers. It turns out she also used a body double, and believes going nude takes away from the art.

Roberts once said “I wouldn’t do nudity in films. To act with my clothes on is a performance. To act with my clothes off is a documentary.”  Whether intentional or not, she has even gone as far as to criticize actresses with children who appear nude. She just doesn’t want her kids to see her so exposed.

8 Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson insists she won’t take her clothes off for a role. She has trouble even kissing another actor in front of a lot of people, let alone filming a sex scene that bares it all.

Believing nudity to be unnecessary in film, she said to Playboy "they like to put in nudity wherever they can. But I'm pretty strong-willed and believe it can be avoided." Her viewpoint has even endangered her chances of getting movie roles, like The Last Kiss. Refusing to appear nude was almost a deal-breaker. While Bilson showed some skin, she would not be shown naked.

She strongly believes that movie scenes can be sexy without nudity, so stripping for a role just is not worth it.

7 Jenna Fischer

Jenna Fischer as Pam Beesly in The Office

It’s hard to imagine sweet Pam from The Office bearing it all for everyone to see. Jenna Fischer was once told that if she didn’t do nudity she wasn’t a “real actress,” which left her stunned.

“I wouldn’t do anything I wouldn’t be proud to show my parents,” she explained in an interview with Playboy in 2008 (which, obviously, she was not posing nude for). That’s a reason most people can relate to. No one really wants their parents or family to see them naked.

Audiences did see her scantily clad in lingerie for the film Blades of Glory, but she will not go any further than that. She’s working on keeping a career in acting while also keeping her clothes on.

6 Sarah Jessica Parker

Most people would expect a Sex In the City actress to appear nude, right? Wrong. Sarah Jessica Parker has a no-nudity clause in her contract. While some of her co-stars didn’t mind appearing nude, she was always covered throughout the series. It may be surprising, coming from such a well-known actress, but Parker isn’t comfortable with the way she looks.

A movie that she refuses to name once asked her to strip down and she held her ground, refusing to break her no-nudity clause. Despite not wanting to appear naked herself, she has no problem with actresses that do. “I think it’s fantastic that people feel comfortable doing it. It’s not some kind of principled position or religious or ideological on my part,” she explained.

5 Blake Lively

Blake Lively in The Shallows

Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively has ruled out ever appearing nude on camera. She finds nudity in movies distracting and isn’t a fan of taking her clothes off.

While Lively has no problem filming sex scenes, she always remains partially covered. She doesn’t even like to wear skimpy clothes on camera. She spoke with Style Magazine, saying "when I see nudity in movies, I am always distracted by it." She also said "I know that if I am watching a scene and someone has their boobs out, then that’s all I’m looking at — I can’t help it."

While she appeared nearly nude in her film Savages, she claims to never want to go past that. Nudity just isn’t something she feels is right for her career.

4 Emma Roberts

Emma Roberts has revealed that she is hesitant about being nude on the big screen. In her movie Nerve, she was shown stripped down to her underwear with co-star Dave Franco, but that was it. She’s also posed in magazines in her underwear. Roberts has also been a part of an Aerie lingerie campaign. However, nudity is something she still isn’t sure about.

The Scream Queens star told W Magazine "I don't know that I'd do a full-on nude scene, ever. I've never had a full-on sex scene ... but we'll see." She wants to be recognized for her talent rather than for being the niece of Julia Roberts. Refusing to appear naked could be a part of that, even as she begins to play more mature, racy roles.

3 Mila Kunis

It’s surprising to find out that Mila Kunis has never appeared nude. She clearly isn’t afraid to be in sex scenes, as fans of the movie Friends With Benefits know. While many viewers thought they saw her butt, it was, yet again, a body double. She told Allure “I showed side boob. I don’t need to show ass. You get one or the other. You don’t get both.”

Her topless photo in Forgetting Sarah Marshall? That wasn’t her. It was Photoshop.

Kunis was once told by a producer that if she didn’t appear nude in a magazine she would “never work in this town again.” Rather than play by the typical rules of Hollywood, she decided to stick to her personal values. Her career was threatened, but the Bad Moms actress isn’t afraid of losing jobs anytime soon.

2 Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore won’t strip down for a movie simply because she doesn’t want everyone to see her body.

“It would be completely uncomfortable to walk down the street and know that the person passing by had seen me without my clothes on,” she told USA Today. Moore claims that she turned down multiple movie roles because they asked her to appear naked and wouldn’t budge after she said no. She doesn’t understand why movies throw in nudity when it isn’t necessary to the story. Moore also won’t appear nude in magazines.

The 47 Meters Down star sees nothing wrong when other women to do it. It’s just not for her, which is understandable. Most people wouldn’t want to know that the whole world has seen them naked.

1 Rebel Wilson

Pitch Perfect’s Rebel Wilson has a zero-nudity policy when it comes to her films. She is so adamant about it that it’s written into her contract. She was asked to go nude for her film The Brothers Grimsby but she refused. Although the director pushed, she insisted on the presence of a body double instead. She sets firm boundaries for herself and sticks by them.

Wilson has admitted that, if a more serious role came along and she believed that the nudity was artistically necessary, she may consider stripping down. She told Marie Claire U.K. "you want to know that the people [behind the camera] have a certain sensibility and decency." She continued, "and a lot of times in comedy they're not those people."
