One mutant that fans are particularly looking forward to seeing rebooted for the MCU is Rogue. Played by Anna Paquin in Fox's X-Men franchise, the character possesses the uncanny ability to absorb the abilities and powers of others merely by touching them. Excited by the prospect of her return to the big screen, many fans have taken to Reddit to express who they're interested in seeing portray the classic character.

Brianne Howey

Reddit user 2020Bun suggests Brianne Howey for an aged-up version of Rogue, similar to that of the X-Men animated series. "This actress has a flirty bombshell look and can do a southern accent," they write, "and plays slightly unhinged as well."

This Redditor's idea of the MCU's Rogue seems to play very much on the character's villainous origin before she was recruited to join the X-Men, something that has yet to be explored with her character in live-action. Howey, known for her work in the television series Ginny and Georgia and the sci-fi adventure film Time Trap could portray such a complex character quite well.

Lily Rabe

Redditor Crymeabrooks suggests actress Lily Rabe to play an older version of Rogue, who is typically depicted as a teenager. "Rabe has a natural southern accent" the Reddit user reasons, "and pulls off the big '90s cartoon hair of Rogue as well." They go on to cite Rabe's work as Misty Day in American Horror Story as a reference.

Rabe is an up-and-coming actress who many casual viewers might not recognize at first should she be cast as Rogue, something that the MCU has done often in order to build up new characters. She certainly has the talent to back up such a casting, which would surely shoot her to superstardom.

Evan Rachel Wood

Mareng0 suggests actress Evan Rachel Wood as the next star to take on the role of Rogue, citing her work on Westworld as displaying her "range... [which] would be perfect for Rogue, who has a tendency to absorb personalities."

The comic book character of Rogue has the mutant ability to absorb the powers and abilities of any being just by touching them. Occasionally, some of their personality traits come along with these abilities, seeping their way into Rogue's actions. Marvel will want a talented actress like Wood to bring such a complex and varied character to life.

Victoria Pedretti

Love looking suspicious in You's third season.

"I think Victoria Pedretti would make a great Rogue," writers Redditor riverwestin when prompted to offer their own fan-casting for the mutant character. Pedretti is best known for portraying Love Quinn on the Netflix original series You.

Pedretti has built her career on playing somewhat morally ambiguous characters, which could perfectly highlight Rogue's villainous backstory, as well as the curse of her power set. Pedretti is certainly ready for a major role in a blockbuster franchise and could make for a perfect addition to the MCU's X-Men.

Elizabeth Gillies

LordHyperBreath has their own suggestion, writing that "Elizabeth Gillies is the perfect Rogue." Gillies got her start on the Nickelodeon comedy series Victorious as Jade West, eventually going on to portray a starring role as one of the best characters in Dynasty.

Gillies has portrayed several dark and brooding characters over the course of her career, something that would tie in nicely with Rogue's backstory, but also has the ability to bring out a lighter and more approachable character, as the mutant hero would surely become given enough time with Xavier's X-Men.

Ariel Winter

"An outside pick that I doubt anyone has considered is Ariel Winter from Modern Family," writes Reddit user FictionFantom, adding a disclaimer, "But I feel like the majority of X-Men members will be lesser-known actors for budget reasons."

Winter has continued her burgeoning career after Modern Family, growing her filmography as she goes. The actress fits many of the characteristics of Rogue as a character and falls into the perfect age range for a rebooted version. Though the Redditor expresses budgetary concerns for their top pick, compared to the likes of Robert Downey Jr. or Scarlett Johansson, Ariel Winter certainly falls into Marvel Studios' price range.

Lily James

TheJackOfDiamonds throws another name into the ring of actresses who could play the mutant hero, stating that it has always been one of their "dream castings" to have Lily James portray Rogue in a live-action X-Men film.

Lily James has had hit after hit in the lastest few years of her career, most recently with the Hulu Original series Pam and Tommy, in which she plays infamous star, Pamela Anderson. James has showcased her incredible range over the years, and would certainly make a worthy addition to the MCU's X-Men.

Lauren Cohan

A Reddit user by the name of VeganArmieHammer keeps it simple with their suggestion of Rogue actresses, simply writing Lauren Cohan's name in their comment. Another user, Nallore, chimed in that they "can actually see her pulling off Rogue pretty well."

Cohan is currently starring as Maggie Rhee in the final season of The Walking Dead, where her Southern accent and morally ambiguous journey perfectly showcase the talent she would bring to the role of Rogue in the MCU. The actress is no stranger to the superhero genre either, having made a brief appearance in Batman v. Superman as Martha Wayne and voicing the ill-fated War Woman in the animated series Invincible.

Lily Collins

Redditor galactusisathiccboi offers Lily Collins as a suitable actress to take on the role of Rogue, writing that "she's great with accents," citing her work in Tolkein as proof before going on to sing her praises: "She's a good actress, charismatic, young [and] isn't attached to any role... she hasn't played another superhero."

Many fans may recognize Collins's work as the incredibly fashionable Emily Cooper in Emily in Paris, a series in which the actress found plenty of notoriety over the last few years. While she had gained popularity recently, Collins is a fresh enough face on the Hollywood scene to completely blend with her new role should she be cast in the MCU.

Alexandra Daddario

"Alexandra Daddario is probably the closest you could get to '90s cartoon Rogue," writes Redditor reddobe, commenting under a post suggesting the actress for the role, "Perfect casting, I just hope they go with a comic accurate suit."

Alexandra Daddario, best known for her roles in BaywatchSan Andreas, and True Detective, is one of the most commonly suggested names when it comes to casting Rogue for the MCU. Despite her success, the accomplished actress has long been in search for her defining role, something that she may have finally found in the character of Rogue, should she find herself cast in the MCU's reboot.
