15 Actors Who Are Cheating Father Time

The actor George Burns once said that “You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.” That’s a lovely sentiment that speaks to the idea that as long as you remain young at heart, you’ll be truly young forever. Of course, the part of the quote you may choose to focus on is “you can’t help getting older.” Despite the numerous multi-million dollar industries out there designed to keep you young, the fact remains that age is going to catch up with you at some point - and it will show signs of its victory when it does.

That is, of course, unless you are a member of a select group of people that never seem to age. Oddly enough, there happen to be a large number of actors who can claim to be members of that particular group. While not all actors age gracefully - not even close - there are some actors whose ability to stay young at heart is surpassed only by their ability to stay young everywhere else. Should we be jealous of these talented, good looking, and wealthy individuals who have beaten time as easily as we mortals beat video game tutorial levels? Yes. Yes, we should.

Here are 15 Actors Who Never Seem To Age.

15 Jared Leto

Jared Leto

It’s important to remember that Jared Leto is only 45. As such, he hasn’t exactly had the chance to become ravaged by the fury of age. Even still, it’s kind of shocking to hear that Leto is 45. Not because that's necessarily old, but because when you think back on Leto’s appearances in films such as Fight Club, American Psycho, and Requiem For A Dream, you begin to realize that Leto looks like pretty much the same person he did 17 years ago.

In Leto’s case, it probably doesn’t hurt that the actor has taken on a variety of roles over the years and, as such, has never really relied on an iconic “look” that gradually began to fade away. Even if he had, though, Leto’s almost non-existent signs of aging would allow him to play the same roles he did almost 20 years ago.

14 Patrick Stewart

Patrick Stewart

Technically, Patrick Stewart has aged. We don’t say that to remind you that he has, in fact, gotten older - though that can be hard to believe - but rather to point out that Patrick Stewart didn’t always look like a slightly older man. At one point, he was a stage actor with hair and everything.

However, ever since Stewart broke into the mainstream courtesy of his leading role in Star Trek: The Next Generation, he hasn’t ever really showed any notable signs of aging. Now, we’ll leave it up to you to determine whether or not looking like you’re 50-60 for the past thirty years or so is something you're interested in, but all and all, we’ll say that being 77 and looking like you did when you were 47 is pretty nice.

13 Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock achieved widespread fame sometime around 1993 or 1994 when she starred in such films as Demolition Man and Speed. Bullock was always seen as an extremely attractive actress - obviously - but her stardom was rarely attributed to her looks, and her characters were rarely the sort of one-noters that relied on those looks alone.

The funny thing about that is that Bullock was not only one of the most attractive actresses of her era, but that she looks more or less the same as she did when Speed hit theaters. It’s at this point that we have to put forth the theory that Bullock sold her soul for acting abilities and a form of immortality. Hey, you come up with a better explanation for how Bullock made Clooney look ancient in Gravity?

12 Will Smith

Will Smith

The West Philadelphia born and raised Will Smith rocketed into stardom when a couple of hit songs prompted NBC to design a sitcom around the young man. At just 21 years of age, Smith had a hit show on the air, a couple of big songs on the radio, and was about to become a Hollywood star. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Of course, it all seems even more impressive when you consider that Smith’s still young looks make it seem like he’s still that same 21-year-old kid. In reality, Will Smith is 48 years old. That’s hardly ancient, but it does make you wonder where time has gone when you consider that Smith looks exactly the same as he did when you were a kid.

11 Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez

Hey, Jennifer Lopez is an actress. Hey, Out of Sight was a great movie! Of course, that came out in 1998, around the time that Lopez was just starting to get some major roles. Lopez arguably enjoyed her career peak around this time. She was seen as one of the hottest names in film and pop music, and she just so happened to be recognized as one of the most beautiful women in the world to boot.

Lopez’s acting and musical accomplishments have become much more debatable in the years that followed, but her status as one of the most beautiful women in the world has remained undisputed. Lopez has always been quick to dismiss her status as such, but the rest of us are just left to wonder if and when Lopez will ever actually age.

10 Gillian Anderson

Gillian Anderson

Playing the old “Guess their age game” is rarely fun for anyone involved, but if you had to guess Gillian Anderson’s age, we bet you wouldn’t suspect that she’s 49. That’s not necessarily because Gillian Anderson hasn’t aged at all, but rather because she’s pulled a Keanu Reeves and has aged so gracefully that you could argue she looks better than ever.

Of course, anyone who watched the X-Files revival knows that Anderson can still pull off her classic look when called upon. Call it movie magic if you must - it’s actually television - but the makeup department can only accomplish so much. Anderson’s time warp is more accurately attributed to the fact that she’s retained her ‘90s looks well into the modern era.

9 Kevin Costner

Kevin Costner

Now, this is where we begin to enter the “That’s just freaky” portion of this particular list. When you think of young Kevin Costner, you probably tend to think of movies like Field of Dreams, The Untouchables, and Dances With Wolves. The funny thing about those roles is that Costner never looked especially young in any of them. He’s long had this kind of “slightly older guy” look.

Of course, that’s served him quite well in later years when “slightly older guy” became “how has Kevin Costner not aged.” Yes, you can tell the difference between Costner now and Costner then, but given that we’re talking about a 62-year-old performer who could conceivably play someone 20+ years his junior quite easily, we’re not going to split gray hairs.

8 Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore

Julianne Moore’s story is pretty similar to Kevin Costner’s. Moore certainly looked a bit younger if you watch one of her ‘90s films (hey, we all looked much younger in the ‘90s), but if we’re talking about the movies that made Moore a star (Lost World, Big Lebowski, Boogie Nights) then we’re talking about an actress who seems to be drinking from the fountain of youth with a crazy straw.

In fact, we’d go so far as to say that Moore is one of those rare individuals who just looks better as she gets older. At 56, Moore shows almost no meaningful signs of aging, save for a stray wrinkle or two. And that’s not really a surprise, given that Moore has always spoken out against plastic surgery and other “youth preserving” methods.

7 Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett

Speaking of looking better with age, let’s move on to Cate Blanchett. Blanchett didn’t really start receiving notable roles until the late ‘90s. That means she was only in her early 20s when her career really picked up. As many of you may know, people can still be developing well into their 20s, which was certainly the case with Blanchett.

However, by the time that Blanchett appeared in Lord of the Rings, she was already forming facial features that she would adhere to until the modern day. Blanchett upcoming role in Thor: Ragnarok is particularly impressive, as you could argue that Blanchett looks younger than ever in that film. Even in her everyday life, Blanchett certainly has that whole “reverse aging” thing going on.

6 Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman

Morgan Freeman’s first acting roles came in the ‘60s when he made some small film and television appearances. However, Freeman didn’t really find fame until around the late ‘80s, early ‘90s courtesy of his work in movies like Glory and Driving Miss Daisy. At that time, Freeman had started to show some signs of aging compared to his younger self. He obviously wasn’t thought of as a young man.

However, ever since Morgan Freeman became a household name, he really hasn’t really suffered a noticeable change in looks. A few gray hairs here and there, sure, but Freeman has had a slightly aged look for years now that he’s grown into as time has gone on. At this point, we can feel pretty confident we’re never going to see an old man version of Freeman.

5 Elijah Wood

We’re destined to see an old version of Elijah Wood at some point. While those who have boyish looks tend to age slowly, at some point, the years will catch up with them and they’ll probably look their age. Even though that day is destined to happen at some point, there hasn’t been any sign that it’s going to happen in the near future.

Granted, Elijah Woodis only 36, but when we say that he looks the same at 36 as he did when he was about 20, we mean that he looks like the exact same person with almost no notable differences to speak of. How many people can say that the same across a 16 year period notorious for changing one’s looks?

4 Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise

Alright, this one is legitimately scary. Tom Cruise started to develop his iconic looks sometime around the Top Gun, Cocktail, Born on the Fourth of July stage of his career. By the time that Cruise was in A Few Good Men, Mission Impossible, and Jerry Maguire stage of his career (how many great movies has this guy been in again?) he had a look that audiences across the globe could identify.

The funny thing is that he still has that look today. Even when he was “aged up” in movies like Collateral, Cruise still looked unmistakably like Tom Cruise. It’s utterly bizarre. Our best guess regarding this one is that Tom Cruise is just one of those guys who has been able to retain his slightly “boyish” looks over a long enough period of time. That or there’s some kind of Scientology-related voodoo going on here.

3 Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston

We kind of feel bad even bringing this one up, given that Jennifer Aniston is only 48. It’s not like 48 is ancient by any means. Still, there’s something to be said for people who almost quite literally have not aged a single day in the last 20 years or so, and that certainly applies to Aniston.

When we say that Aniston hasn’t aged in the last 10-20 years, we mean that we’re not entirely sure there isn’t some kind of Photoshop-fueled conspiracy in-play designed to ensure that Aniston retains her “It Girl” looks and is prepared to step right back into a Friends reunion if need be. If there is such a conspiracy...honestly, that would actually be slightly more believable than the possibility that Aniston has aged this well naturally.

2 Rob Lowe

Robe Lowe

Wasn’t it funny how everyone joked in Parks and Recreation about the fact that Rob Lowe’s character didn’t age and was probably going to live forever? Didn’t we all have a good laugh? Well, the jokes turn real when you look at photos of Rob Lowe over the years and realize that the man is indeed immune to the effects of age.

It just doesn’t make any sense. Rob doesn’t exactly look like his teenage self anymore, but we’re talking about a man who certainly looks exactly like he did when he was stealing scenes in The West Wing. At this point, we’re willing to believe that Rob Lowe wakes up early every morning just to age himself up ever so slightly as to fool us mortals.

1 Paul Rudd

Paul Rudd is almost 50 years old. Now, we would never do something so irresponsible as suggest that Paul Rudd is a vampire, vampires are real, and you should arm yourself with garlic and stakes before Whole Foods and Home Depot run out, but Paul Rudd is a vampire and you should start doing all of those things immediately.

The vast majority of entrants on this list, of course, take into account that everyone ages some at some point in their lives. When we say that Paul Rudd hasn’t aged, we mean that the man doesn’t seem to have aged even the tiniest of bits. Even if our “Paul Rudd is a vampire” theory is a bit outlandish, at the least, we have to believe that there is an army of progressively younger Paul Rudds somewhere out there.
