For most actors, being famous is the goal. The dream of becoming a world renowned, incredibly beloved, and extremely famous actor is exactly what so many aspire to be. Yet, there are some actors out there who don't want the fame at all.
While the idea of fame might have seemed great in the beginning, many actors grow tired of being famous. Whether it be due to the paparazzi, the lack of privacy, or people not being able to tell the difference between an actor and a character, being famous isn't always as great as it seems.
It happens all the time for actors who are known for a specific role, have been around for awhile, or who have received some severely bad backlash over the years. Either way, there are plenty of well-known actors out there who want to avoid the celebrity title as much as possible.
It might be easy to disregard the actors who say that they don't like the fame, but just because it seems like someone has everything, doesn't mean that they're happy with their life. Actors are human too.

15. Chris Evans
Known for being Mr. Captain America himself, Chris Evans doesn't really see himself being in front of the camera for that much longer. Because of his hatred for being famous, Evans has claimed that he will forever quit acting once his Marvel contract is up.
When Chris Evans was first starting out, he was excited to be in the spotlight. As time went on, though, he found it completely exhausting.
While Evans loves playing Captain America and being part of The Avengers, he claims that it has taken too much out of him.
In the future, he tells fans to expect to see much less of him in front of the camera. Instead, Evans wants to become a director and leave acting behind once he's done portraying America's superhero.
14. Harrison Ford
It might be difficult to imagine Harrison Ford disliking his fame. For someone who won't stop acting, it doesn't quite make sense. However, that's the thing: the desire to act and the desire to be famous are two completely different things.
Ford is best known for his roles in both the Star Wars franchise as well as the Indiana Jones franchise. Besides that, he's been in plenty of movies-- from comedies to dramas.
Unfortunately, Ford hates being famous now. He claims that being a famous actor cost him his privacy. He also says that he feels like his fame is a burden on those whom he loves.
There's nothing he can do about it now, though. If Harrison Ford stopped acting, everyone would still recognize. That's what forty-something years in the acting business gets you.

Now that he's claimed that he's coming back for the next James Bond film-- Bond 25-- it might come as a shock that Daniel Craig hates being famous.
Having been part of the beloved James Bond franchise, as well as having roles in movies such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Cowboys & Aliens, Daniel Craig is a seasoned pro.
Sadly, after his first James Bond film, Craig said he started feeling the pressure that fame can sometimes bring.
Craig went from being an in-demand actor to being the face of one of the world's most favorite franchise films.
He claims that his life has changed a lot, and he can never go back to how things used to be. The invasion of privacy has now become too much for him.
12. Jennifer Lawrence
Still relatively new to the game, Jennifer Lawrence became one of the best actors in Hollywood at a very young age. She received her first Oscar nomination at the age of 20 for her role in Winter's Bone, then won an Oscar two years later for Silver Linings Playbook.
Known for being the face of The Hunger Games and for her role as Mystique in the X-Men franchise, Lawrence never thought she was going to be a mainstream actor. She thought she would only do low-budget indie films and never imagined that she'd be in the shoes that she's in today.
Fame hit Lawrence fast and hard. She says that she can't find peace with being famous and that she sees herself as too normal to handle it well. She just wants to act and would rather do without fame entirely.
11. Jack Gleeson
Jack Gleeson was so good at portraying Joffrey Baratheon on Game of Thrones that he was constantly ridiculed in public for it. Ever since Joffrey's overdue death in season 4, Gleeson has made a clean break.
Not wanting to be part of that world any longer, Gleeson has decided to give up acting, and has been a strong voice against celebrity worship. He thinks that celebrity worship is not only bad for the celebrity, but bad for the person worshiping that celebrity as well.
Gleeson gave a talk once about celebrity culture where he said: "It seems that celebrities have become vessels of either, as I say, an economic, revolutionary, or sociological instinct to consume and imitate certain extraordinary members of society. We've seen how this reverence can have profound effects on both parties, oftentimes more negative than positive."
Jack Gleeson never intended to become overly famous because of his strongly dislike for celebrity culture.
10. Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson didn't know exactly what he was getting into when he signed up for Twilight. That being said, he did know what he was getting into when he portrayed Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
The actor has made it known that he hates being famous and, in fact, never even wanted to be famous in the first place. He claims that fame made him feel both isolated and lonely.
The only bright side to all of this is that he's grateful that he was able to have a normal life before stardom reached him.
More than anything, Pattinson beats himself up over how many people dislike him just for being famous. It's a vicious circle that he can't seem to climb his way out of.
9. Zach Galifianakis
Ever since he found success through The Hangover, Zach Galifianakis has become one of the most famous comedic actors out there these days. While he tends to lean on the funny side, Galifianakis has also been in some dramatic movies too such as Birdman, and currently stars in his own television series called Baskets.
Once in an interview, Galifianakis claimed that being a famous actor was dumb and that he wasn't interested in fame. He continued that thought by saying, "I like to be an actor and that's it." He has absolutely no interest in being famous.
Why is Galifianakis so against the idea of fame? He says it's because he thinks associating fame with actors is a man-made concept. He thinks that, just because the two things are continuously thought of as being one and the same, this doesn't mean that he has to enjoy or accept them.
8. Anne Hathaway
Almost everyone knows that Anne Hathaway has received a lot of hate throughout the years. After she won her Oscar for Les Miserables, things only got worse for her.
After winning her Oscar, Hathaway went on a small hiatus. By that point, she had been in movies such as The Princess Diaries, Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, and Bride Wars.
She had made a name for herself, but a lot of people hated her for her attitude and her lack of humility.
When it comes to fame, Hathaway claims she doesn't know how to handle it and that people can be really harsh sometimes to the point where she can't ignore it. As the years have gone by, she's become much more reserved due to how fame has treated her.
7. Idris Elba
Let's get one thing straight: Idris Elba does love the perks that comes with being a star. His beef is with being associated with someone else's thoughts rather than his own.
Elba is known for his roles in Pacific Rim, Thor, Luther, and his upcoming role in The Dark Tower. The actor has also been named one of Hollywood's sexiest men, which Elba is completely aware of.
While being an actor seems great, Elba has a lot of issues when it comes to not being himself. He wants to do everything-- he wants to be a rapper, a DJ, and a drag racer. The fame can help him do these things, but it can also make it difficult for him at the same time.
Being known for being an actor and the characters he's associated with tend to frustrate Elba. That being said, he seems to enjoy the perks of being in the spotlight, so this one's a toss-up.
6. Shia LaBeouf
For someone who keeps drawing attention to himself, Shia LaBeouf believes that celebrities are enslaved and claims that he hates being famous.
Known originally for being a Disney Channel child star, LaBeouf has made a name for himself since starring in the Disney show Even Stevens and movie Tru Confessions. He's been in Transformers, Fury, and Lawless. He's even made an appearance in a Sia music video.
LaBeouf has claimed that actors are enslaved because they aren't allowed to be anything but a face. He says they can only be physical and not be an individual.
He believes that all actors don't get to be real people, as they are forced to be the face and brand of a movie or show, which is why he personally dislikes being famous.

Kristen Stewart has been acting for almost her whole life. She grew up in the spotlight and one thing she has learned is that she's not a fan of fame.
Mostly known for her role as Bella in the Twilight series, Stewart actually has some pretty major acting credits to her name. She's been in movies such as Snow White and the Huntsman, Adventureland, and Into the Wild.
After having an affair that ended her relationship with Robert Pattinson, Stewart received a lot of negative feedback from fans. Since then, she's been vocal about her disgust for people who want to be famous.
She doesn't understand why anyone would want to be famous because she sees fame as a negative part of her job.
4. Daniel Radcliffe
Being picked to portray Harry Potter in the famous Harry Potter series seemed like a dream for Daniel Radcliffe. Though the actor has had his struggles with alcohol, it's fame that has been the biggest issue for him.
Radcliffe hates being so well-known. He even went as far as wearing the same clothes day after day in order to confuse the paparazzi.
He considers himself to be a normal guy and hates it when anyone brings up him stardom and tries to convince him that he's a big star. He struggles to know who he is as a person, since he's been overly famous for being Harry Potter for so long.

Megan Fox claims that she doesn't understand why people get upset with her when she complains about the fame that comes with being an actress. She thinks too many people judge her for not loving her life.
Known for her roles in Transformers, Jennifer's Body, and New Girl, Fox has one typical role that she's great at playing. That type of role has given her a whole lot of money, as well as fame. While this might be a good thing to some, she sure doesn't see it that way.
Fox says that playing the role of a sex symbol so early on in her life has made her powerless. The way her fans see her now makes her upset because she knows that she's so much more than just the hot girl.
She's a mom with her own hardships and struggles, and she hates how the public views her.
2. Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp has been in negative light for the past few years. After bringing dogs illegally into Australia, divorcing Amber Heard, dealing with the claims that he abused her, and then being outed as essentially bankrupt, Depp's been dealing with a lot, to say the least.
Known for his roles in Pirates of the Caribbean, Alice in Wonderland, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Depp is as famous as they come. The actor will even be starring in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2 as Gellert Grindelwald.
Instead of trying to fight the fame, Johnny Depp just let it happen. He says he hates it, but that there's no point in fighting it.
If a rumor happens, he allows that rumor to run its course. He just wants to be himself and, according to him, fame doesn't allow him that option all of the time.
1. George Clooney
Before you judge George Clooney for complaining, stop to think about it for a minute. Does Clooney seem like he's ever enjoyed fame? Sure, he's enjoyed the power, but there's not a whole lot of indication that he likes being worshipped as a celebrity.
Clooney is known for being one of the best in Hollywood. He's starred in films such as Ocean's Eleven, Up in the Air, and O Brother, Where Art Thou? He recently became a dad of twins with his wife Amal Clooney.
When it comes to fame, Clooney hates it. All he wants to do is be able to take a walk in Central Park without being bothered.
It's understandable-- he's not able to live a normal life. While he's understanding that fame comes with the job, he doesn't like that he has to sacrifice so much for it.
Even now, being a dad has made things even more difficult for Clooney. He wants to shield his twins from the spotlight, but pictures are being taken and it's making him dislike fame even more.
