The first trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is out now, and it may have secretly revealed a major character for the upcoming Spider-Women spin-off movie. While the trailer for the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse showed off all kinds of Spider-Man variants throughout the multiverse, some viewers have been honing in on one briefly seen character in particular. Although she may not seem important to the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer, it is proof that the movie is already setting up the Spider-Women spin-off movie.

First announced in late 2018, Sony is reportedly developing a female-led Into the Spider-Verse spin-off focusing on Spider-Gwen. The film would also prominently feature other female webslingers, such as Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman, as well as Silk. With Issa Rae's Spider-Woman finally being shown off for the first time in the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer, this spin-off is closer than ever, and one new character could potentially join the cast of the upcoming film.

Who Is Mayday Parker In Across The Spider-Verse?

In the trailer for Across the Spider-Verse, Peter B. Parker can be briefly seen holding a baby in a few shots. As it turns out, that baby is none other than Mayday Parker, the daughter of Peter B. Parker and Mary Jane. For some reason, Peter has taken his child on an adventure with him in the Spider-Verse, with the baby carrier in nearly every shot he is in. While this easy-to-miss Across the Spider-Verse shot has some major implications for the movie, it's even more significant in the way that it can influence the Spider-Women movie.

Why Spider-Girl Could Appear In The Spider-Women Movie

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse Spider-Gwen

In the comics, Mayday Parker becomes Spider-Girl, a younger version of Spider-Man. Spider-Girl has the same powers and costume as her father, Peter Parker, making her another ideal candidate to join the Spider-Women movie. Although she's just a baby, and she probably won't turn into Spider-Woman in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, she could easily be old enough by the time the spin-off comes out. After all, between Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse, several years have passed, with Miles Morales being significantly older, so the same could happen to Mayday Parker.

Sony has already confirmed that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will serve as a launching pad for its various spin-offs, so it only makes sense that they are introducing Mayday in order to have her in a future film. While she could be getting her own movie, she isn't nearly as popular as Gwen Stacy or Jessica Drew, meaning that she would most likely fit in better with the Spider-Women movie. Although she isn't in the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer much, it's safe to say that she will have a big role in that movie and in future spin-offs.
