Animal Crossing: New Horizons and its adorable cast of NPCs and other lovable villagers has led to countless homages in fan art, with many bringing the game's most popular elements to life in a variety of enthralling visuals.
The Able Sisters is a clothing shop featured throughout the Animal Crossing series, which provides the latest fashions for its community members. The shop is run by ACNH NPC sisters Sable and Mabel, the latter of which is the comparatively more outgoing and friendly sibling. That said, Sable is an extremely talented seamstress and enjoys giving players new sets of patterned fabric if befriended - she can be found working quietly in the background of the store, while Mabel interacts with the perusing customers.
A talented and artistic Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan recently unveiled a piece of their work: a pixel animation of the Able Sisters clothing shop. Reddit user gejopixelart is the mind behind the creation, and impressively places Mabel and Sable in the era of the original Game Boy console through their graphical work. The animation aptly features Sable working diligently on her sewing machine in the background, with Mabel in the forefront addressing the viewer with a text box below. Mabel says, "Hi There! Welcome to the handmade-fashion palace of the Able Sisters." The text box in particular is a throwback to older handheld consoles, especially with the floating arrow placed at the end of the sentence.
The Animal Crossing series does not have an official Game Boy port, having debuted in 2001 for the Nintendo GameCube console. That said, the first Animal Crossing installment actually features the Able Sisters clothing shop - marking Sable and Mabel's very first appearance in the series (appropriately in the series' very first game). As a result, the Able sisters are integral elements of the franchise's gameplay and storylines; and with the seemingly every-growing customization available to players in the latest series installment New Horizons, the shop's mechanics and features only continue to grow.
Pixel animation not only brings a new perspective to a current-generation game, but it also serves as a reminder for how far video games have come. Although Animal Crossing: New Horizons and the Able Sisters are no longer portrayed using weaker 3D graphics (New Horizons is a particularly stunning and detailed game), a pixelated version of the social simulation game wouldn't be any less fun than its recent installments. That said, perhaps a pixelated version of Animal Crossing already exists, thanks to Stardew Valley.
