According to UbisoftAssassin's Creed Valhalla is the publisher's second-most profitable ongoing game in its history. The open-world RPG takes players to Scandinavia's Viking Age, as annual series releases all feature new settings to explore with each release. Despite launching a year ago, AC Valhalla continues to receive DLC and updates, with leaks suggesting the game's next DLC expansion will begin the Ragnarök event of Norse myth.

Ubisoft's latest investors call announced Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the publisher's second-most profitable ongoing title ever (via GameSpot). While the historical fiction game is exclusively single-player, it has received regular post-launch support since its November 2020 release. The game's two major expansions, Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris, add additional storylines and locations to the Norse-inspired epic. Free smaller pieces of content, such as Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Discovery Tour mode, have also helped to expand the game over time and keep more players engaged.

Assassin's Creed is one of Ubisoft's most prominent franchises, so the financial success of AC Valhalla is not particularly surprising. The iconic series also had increased presence during Ubisoft's recent investors call, as the publisher additionally confirmed spin-off game Assassin's Creed Infinity isn't free-to-play. While AC Infinity game has not been officially announced, rumors claim the upcoming installment will adopt a live-service model and expand over time in a similar fashion to Valhalla's updates. Earlier rumors claimed the game would be free-to-play, supposedly requiring players to pay for additional locations or stories individually, but Ubisoft has now officially denied the AC Infinity free-to-play rumors. With Assassin's Creed Valhalla receiving another year of DLC in 2022 and the mysterious Assassin's Creed Infinity on the way sometime in the future, Ubisoft seems keen to recreate its new successes next year.
