Leaked Assassin's Creed Valhalla data seems to confirm the title and focus of the game's next expansion. The open-world action title puts players in the role of Eivor, a Viking warrior who lived back in the late 800s AD. Assassin's Creed Valhalla has received an abundance of post-launch downloadable content since its release in November 2020, and developer Ubisoft Montreal reportedly has plans for a second year of DLC support which will be a first for the long-running historical series.

Since its launch, Assassin's Creed Valhalla has continued to expand with more Viking-inspired content for players to tackle. Two large expansion packs, titled Wrath of the Druids and The Siege of Paris, have extended Eivor's Norse journey with new lands to explore, new weapons to wield and new missions to complete. The first piece of content takes players to the shores of Ireland, while the second expansion features a recreation of 800s Paris. Meanwhile, smaller periodic updates have added new content for players to explore that is not necessarily narrative-driven. AC Valhalla's Nightmare difficulty and new river raids, which will increase combat intensity and offer new places for players to initiate battles, were added to Assassin's Creed Valhalla in Title Update 1.3.1 when it went live on September 7.

New Assassin's Creed Valhalla data, leaked in a video by YouTuber j0nathan and translated from French by Eurogamer, potentially reveals new details about the game's next expansion. Supposedly titled Dawn of Ragnarök, the DLC will kick off Norse mythology's apocalyptic event, which has been adapted in many forms of media. The data, added to the game in a recent patch, includes achievements/trophies and concept art that hint at the expansion's content. Dawn of Ragnarök will apparently take place in Svartalfheim, the mythological realm of the dwarves, and include new supernatural abilities for Eivor. These powers, teased in leaked pieces of concept art, include invisibility, flight, teleportation, ice attacks and ally resurrection. A new item which players can upgrade, Odin's Bracer, is also teased by the trophy list.

While Assassin's Creed Valhalla has an entire second year of support coming, fans are also looking ahead to the next installment in the historical fiction franchise. Rumors claim that the series' next release will be Assassin's Creed Infinity, a live-service game that will be continually updated with new locations for players to explore. Many fans assume that the game will end the franchise's annual release schedule, but new rumors claims that new games will follow Assassin's Creed Infinity despite its ever-evolving nature. This could suggest that Infinity's updates will be quite small, necessitating the continued release of larger titles as well.

Since most Assassin's Creed titles stop being supported after a year, the continued release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla content is quite exciting. The Viking adventure keeps getting bigger and bigger, and if these rumors are true Dawn of Ragnarök will be an exciting new chapter in the story. While previous expansions brought players to real-world locations, the third expansion is said to instead bring Eivor to the fictional Svartalfheim. Combined with new items to obtain and a new story to experience, this downloadable content could offer players a truly unique Assassin's Creed experience.
