20 "I Really Want You To Leave But I Don't Know How To Say It Without Sounding Like A D***."

Ted (Jon Hamm)

Jon Hamm as Ted saluting in a car in Bridesmaids

Though he was largely known at the time for playing the brooding Don Draper on Mad Men, Jon Hamm's uncredited Bridesmaids role showed he had a real talent for comedy. Hamm plays Ted, Annie's friend with benefits who she hopes could be something more to the point that she ignores what a terrible guy he is. The movie opens with an outrageous sex scene between them followed by the morning after where Ted makes small talk with her for a few moments before bluntly wondering how to best communicate that he wants her gone. It is a hilariously despicable line that Hamm delivers with perfect sleaze.

19 "That Dress Is So Pretty, It Makes My Stomach Hurt."

Megan (Melissa McCarthy)

Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper, and Wendi McLendon-Covey trying on dresses in Bridesmaids

Even without the context of this scene in Bridesmaids, this line from Megan (Melissa McCarthy) is still hilarious. Lillian comes out in her wedding dress and everyone loves it, but Megan goes overboard and says that the dress is so pretty it hurts her stomach. While it is a strange thing to say even for Megan, it soon becomes clear that the women are all experiencing food poisoning. Megan's face, as she tries to fight down the feeling, kickstarts the funniest scene in Bridesmaids.

18 "Excuse Me, Um, Could I Have A Glass Of Alcohol When You Get A Chance?"

Becca (Ellie Kemper)

Ellie Kemper on the plane in Bridesmaids

Becca (Ellie Kemper) agrees to go along with the wild bachelorette party before Lillian's big wedding day, but the other characters quickly realize that Becca is very reserved and innocent. She is a young woman who is excited about getting married and starting a family of her own. However, the gradual corruption by the more experienced women makes her see things differently and she begins to embrace her wild side, even if she's still a bit awkward with ordering a drink.

17 "I Just Took A S*** In The Middle Of The Street. I Just S***."

Lillian (Maya Rudolph)

Maya Rudolph in a wedding dress sitting in the middle of the street with food poisoning in Bridesmaids

While nearly all the women succumb to the terrible food poisoning, Lillian, unfortunately, gets it the worst. Maya Rudolph is hilarious in the movie and it's hard not to feel sorry for her as this woman's special day keeps getting ruined, including trying on her dress for the first time. While desperately trying to get to a bathroom, Lillian realizes it is too late while she is in the middle of the road and simply has to accept the horrible (yet hilarious) situation.

16 "Look Away! What Did We Eat?! The Sink’s A Goner! It’s Comin’ Outta Me Like Lava!"

Megan (Melissa McCarthy)

Melissa McCarthy with food poisoning in Bridesmaids

The madness of the food poisoning scene continues inside the bridal gown shop as the other women fight for a spot in the bathroom. Megan sees all the toilets are taken so she has to make a desperate choice just like Lillian. She settles for the sink as the other characters go for the toilet as they can't hold in anything from vomit to diarrhea in the gross-out scene. Even if audiences aren't a fan of that type of humor, the dialogue is still top-notch including this descriptive scene Megan screams. Melissa McCarthy is great at comedy and drama but this might be the crowning moment of her career so far.

15 "Help Me, I'm Poor."

Annie (Kristen Wiig)

bridesmaids annie and helen

Annie is an easy hero to root for as her struggles are very relatable. This includes financially struggling while having to pay for all the extravagant wedding necessities, including the bachelorette party trip. On the plane, Annie is the only one not in first class and she won't let Helen (Rose Byrne) help her to upgrade. Despite this pride, once Annie has over-medicated herself, she has no problem abandoning her dignity and looking for pity from the flight attendant.

14 “I’m Glad He’s Single, ‘Cause I’m Gonna Climb That Like A Tree.”

Megan (Melissa McCarthy)

Melissa McCarthy with a drink in Bridesmaids

It’s not often that the Academy voters recognize comedic movies, and even less often that they recognize mainstream Hollywood R-rated Apatowian comedies. But Melissa McCarthy’s breakout performance as Megan in Bridesmaids was simply that good, so she was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Lines like this are why this role was so acclaimed because it's her introduction and it's the kind of wild thing the character became famous for. She utters this line after mistaking an older gentleman for Annie’s husband.

Annie (Kristen Wiig)

Annie punches a cookie in Bridesmaids

The bridal shower scene is where everything comes to a head. Lillian loves Paris, which only Annie knew about. Annie arrives at Helen’s house and realizes she stole her idea for a bachelorette party in Paris and picked it apart to throw a Paris-themed bridal shower instead. So, Annie loses it and erupts at Lillian about her newfound friendship with Helen, then rampages around the backyard, smashing up the chocolate fountain and breaking the giant cookie. While Helen goes too far in Bridesmaids at times, Annie's meltdown is epic enough to overshadow that.

12 “I Had A Dream Last Night That We Went Down.”

Nervous Woman On Plane (Annie Mumolo)

Annie is distraught as she sits in coach as a fellow airplane passenger looks over in Bridesmaids.

The nervous woman on the plane is played by Annie Mumolo, who co-wrote the Oscar-nominated screenplay for the movie with Kristen Wiig. Despite only appearing in one scene, Mumolo shares great chemistry with Wiig and makes a lasting impression on the audience by capturing the anxiety of flying perfectly. She tells Wiig – who is the only one of Lillian’s bridesmaids who can’t afford a first-class ticket – that she had a dream the night before the flight that the plane went down and, unnervingly, Wiig was in the dream.

11 “You Read My Journal?!”

Annie (Kristen Wiig)

Rebel Wilson in green, sitting on a couch in a scene from Bridesmaids.

Rebel Wilson's movie career got its big break thanks to Bridesmaids, joining many of the other up-and-coming members of the cast. Now, she’s known for starring in such comedies as the Pitch Perfect franchise, How to Be Single, and Isn’t It Romantic. In Bridesmaids, she played the sister of Annie’s roommate who decided to move in with her infected Chupacabra tattoo and her invasions of privacy without paying any rent. In one of her first scenes, she reveals she’s gone into Annie’s bedroom and read her diary.

10 "I Put A Loaded Gun In Dougie’s Carry-On."

Megan (Melissa McCarthy)

The final scene of Bridesmaids takes place at Lillian’s wedding. She and Annie are friends again, Annie and Helen have found a way to connect on some level, and Annie and Officer Rhodes have finally gotten together. This is one of the final lines in the movie and another hilarious Bridesmaids quote from Megan. Megan is laughing as Lillian and her new husband Doug (Megan’s brother) drive away to jet off on their honeymoon. Annie asks what’s so funny and Megan reveals the reckless prank she’s pulled on her brother.

9 "They Are Cute, But When They Reach That Age, Ugh. Disgusting."

Rita (Wendi McLendon-Covey)

Rita sitting on the plane in Bridesmaids

Among the various Bridesmaids characters, Rita (Wendi McLendon-Covey) represents the long-married woman with kids who is jaded about the whole idea of love and marriage. As young Becca talks about her dream of having kids, Rita helps to break that illusion by explaining how disgusting her teenage kids have become. It is hilarious hearing how off-putting she finds her own children, how disrespectful they have become, and how much contempt she has for them. It is a lot different that Wendi McLendon-Covey's mother role as the hilarious Beverly on The Goldbergs.

8 “Why Can’t You Be Happy For Me, And Then Go Home And Talk About Me Behind My Back Like A Normal Person?”

Lillian (Maya Rudolph)

Lillian with her arm around Annie in Bridesmaids

While the movie is centered around a wedding, it is really about a friendship that is tested by a wedding. Lillian knew from the beginning that Annie would be jealous of her getting married and becoming friends with Helen, but she expected her to complain about it behind her back and not actually bring it up with her in person, like everyone else in the world seems to do. This line is pretty insightful. It’s sort of a throwaway gag, but it does deconstruct a pretty hefty chunk of how society functions and how phony we really are with one another.

7 "Female Fight Club. We Grease Up, We Pull In."

Megan (Melissa McCarthy)

The bridal party in a dress shop in Bridesmaids.

The cast of Bridesmaids is one of the best ones ever assembled for a comedy and the different personalities playing off each other make for a great group for the movie. When it comes to planning Lillian’s bachelorette party, everyone has their own ideas about what they should do. Innocent and childlike Becca suggests going to Disneyland. Rita would rather spend a depraved weekend in Vegas to escape her loveless marriage and her ungrateful children. However, it is Megan's idea that they surprise Lillian with a fight club that is the funniest.

6 “Whatever You Say, Stove.”

Annie (Kristen Wiig)

Annie talking to flight attendant Steve in Bridesmaids

It’s not easy to act drunk in a way that’s both convincing and funny, but during the flight scene in Bridesmaids, Kristen Wiig establishes herself as one of the few comic actors who can nail it. Mitch Silpa plays the role of the flight attendant Steve with the greatest deadpan delivery, shutting down every absurd thing Wiig says and refusing to acknowledge any of her insults. And in turn, Wiig plays the scene perfectly as she completely ignores him. This is a result of Wiig and Silpa developing their improv skills with The Groundlings.

5 "Nobody Can Get Anywhere In 3 Seconds. You're Setting Me Up For A Loss Already."

Annie (Kristen Wiig)

Annie peeking into first class on the flight in Bridesmaids

The plane scene has so many endlessly funny lines that makes for one of the best comedic set pieces of the movie. As the situation with Annie grows more serious, flight attendant Steve begins to lose his patience. He tells Annie that she has three seconds to get back in her seat which she argues is just an impossible request. The quote is funny for a couple of reasons. First, that Annie cannot stop herself from making the situation worse by acting like a child. Secondly, even in her drug-induced state, she actually makes a pretty good point.

4 "I Look Ugly? No I Don't. I Don't Really Look Ugly."

Helen (Rose Byrne)

Helen crying in the car whilst her and Annie look for Lillian in Bridesmaids

In most movies, a character like Helen would be the villain of the story. While she does serve as an antagonist to Annie for much of Bridesmaids, by the end she is a very likable and sympathetic character even if she is still superficial. The audience and Annie see a different side of her when Helen breaks down and confesses she doesn't have any female friends. Annie smiles and explains Helen is an ugly crier which makes her easier to like rather than being the perfect person she usually comes off as. Rose Byrne plays the moment hilarious as she laughs along with Annie while still not willing to accept that she doesn't look perfect.

3 "I Did Slightly Overcommit To The Whole Dog Thing."

Megan (Melissa McCarthy)

Megan in her van with all the dogs in Bridesmaids

Megan is such an unpredictable character who brings an amazing spark to the movie. She can be a brash and intimidating character at times, but she also has a very big heart. One of the funniest sight gags in the movie is after Annie leaves the party in which Helen has taken over as maid of honor and given puppies as party gifts. Annie is driving away when Megan passes her with several dogs in her car. The gag gets funnier after when Annie meets with Megan who confirms that she took nine of the puppies. The usually enthusiastic Megan even admits to herself that it was too much.

2 "Kind Of Pinballed Down. Hit A Lot Of Railings, Broke A Lot Of S***."

Megan (Melissa McCarthy)

Megan on a flight in Bridesmaids

Inspiration movie speeches are usually reserved for sports stories, but Megan comes out with one of the most unorthodox and hilarious pep talks of all time. After her falling out with Lillian, Annie seems to have hit rock bottom when Megan comes to be the one to pull her out of her funk. Megan uses her own hard experiences to show how someone can come back from anything. This includes a story about her falling off a cruise ship and "pinballing" into the railings on the way down. While it is a sweet moment of kindess from Megan, it is hard not to laugh picturing the fall.

1 “I Feel Bad For Your Parents.”

Annie (Kristen Wiig)

Annie yelling at a teenager in Bridesmaids

As likable as Annie is, some of the best moments in Bridesmaids are seeing everything go wrong for her. After she and Lillian have a falling out, Annie brings her personal drama to work resulting in this hilarious showdown. When a teenage girl comes into the jewelry store looking for something to give to her best friend, Annie immediately takes issue with her. As the girl pushes back against Annie, they get into a hilarious back-and-worth insult spat which results in Annie being fired.
