The AbleGamers Foundation, a nonprofit organization which seeks to improve accessibility throughout the gaming industry, has announced a brand-new annual fundraiser. The organization was founded in 2004 by Mark Bartlet, and since then it has created resources and worked with publishers to create opportunities for gamers with disabilities. After a year of charity AbleGamers' #SpawnTogether campaign recently hit $1 million, with the money going towards the organization's noble cause.

By raising money and communicating with the developers of popular titles, AbleGamers is working to improve the lives of gamers with various disabilities. For example, Behaviour Interactive's popular multiplayer survival horror game Dead by Daylight relies heavily on the use of the color red to give players in-game information. After a member of the team commented that implementing a colorblind option would be "boring," Behaviour Interactive was approached by AbleGamers COO Steven Spohn. After speaking to Spohn, the developer quickly agreed to add a colorblind accessibility mode to Dead by Daylight so that all types of gamers could play the bloody survival game.

After a highly successful #SpawnTogether campaign last year, AbleGamers COO Steven Spohn has announced another fundraiser run. Called #Spawn2gether, this second year of charity will begin on September 15, 2021 with a goal of raising another $1 million. Community support is once again being requested, with a team of Champions made up of fundraising professionals and Twitch personalities. This group of five Champions will drive the initiative and spread it throughout the video game community.

By communicating and working with various institutions throughout the gaming community, AbleGamers has managed to raise a huge amount of money for the benefit of disabled gamers everywhere. An AbleGamers bundle in Rainbow Six: Siege made the organization over $170,000 when it was made available back in April. The cosmetic bundle was the very first charity bundle for the game, and it served to benefit a noble cause. All of the cosmetic items, worn by the character Doc, featured AbleGamers' recognizable orange, grey and white color scheme.

Accessibility is an important part of the video game industry, as simple options or accommodations can allow somebody to experience a game that they otherwise never would have played. From adding colorblind options in Dead by Daylight to increasing the accessibility of Among Us, AbleGamers has opened doors for many gamers. By making the #Spawn2gether fundraiser a success, those who donate can open up brand-new opportunities to those that require special accessibility options.
