Blue Box Game Studios, developer of the mysterious upcoming game Abandoned, has issued a statement after an increase in death threats both online and physical against its employees, pleading with gamers to stop. Announced in April as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, Abandoned was revealed as an enigmatic title of a cinematic horror survival shooter. This led to the studio finding itself enclosed in controversy after fans jumped to their own conclusions about the game and speculated that Abandoned was a secret Hideo Kojima project set to revive Silent Hills.

Despite the studio repeatedly denying that they have any relation with the long-famed video game designer or Abandoned being a new Silent Hill title, scrutinizing fans believe otherwise. Its ongoing unveiled mystery has led the title to become one of the biggest conspiracies in recent gaming, with some even going far enough to accuse the developers of being scammers. Though created in 2015, deep digging has revealed that Blue Box Games Studios has a track record of unreleased projects. This has raised suspicion and many believe that Abandoned will suffer the same fate and not see the light of day.

In a solemn post titled "A message from us. Human beings" on Twitter, Blue Box Games Studios has revealed that death threats have been increasing in recent days, gradually affecting its employees and all upcoming operations. The developer adds on by stating that besides online threats, physical instances have also occurred and that they will begin supplying the police with IP addresses, logs, and camera footage to take action against the abuse. Blue Box also makes a mention of the mysterious Abandoned by bringing to attention that they are fully aware of the negative situation that they have created, but need the space to continue to develop the game without receiving any more death threats. The post concludes with the studio announcing that they will be starting a regular blog on their website in which fans can use to keep updated with the development of the game.

The studio has been silent since August, after failing to deliver a first-look Abandoned trailer on an exclusive app. The trailer app was originally set to release on June 25 but would be later delayed until August. When the app did release on August 13, it was a five-gigabyte download on the PlayStation 5 that featured a five-second walking animation that had already been posted to the company's Twitter three days before its release on August 10th.

It's unclear if Abandoned will be indefinitely delayed or never be released, but Blue Box Game Studios hopes that death threats will finally dial down. Attentive fans can now keep updated via the studio's website on regular blogs, as the development for the cryptic survival title continues.
