The World War Z developer, Saber Interactive, has partnered with Paramount Pictures to publish A Quiet Place game, whose development is helmed by iLLOGIKA. Directed by John Krasinski, A Quiet Place originally took the world by storm in 2018 with a tense horror story wherein silence mattered most. Paramount Pictures has since released a sequel, A Quiet Place Part II, and a third entry is officially in the works.

Saber Interactive and its partners seem the perfect home for such an experience. The Embracer Group-owned company faithfully brought the zombie-infested world of World War Z to life in the 2019 video game of the same name. And by most accounts, the third-person shooter offered the ultimate cooperative zombie title, one that more than 15 million players worldwide have partaken in. Now Saber Interactive has set its sights on another horror franchise, though this time the group won't helm the development side of things.

Today, October 26, Saber Interactive announced a game adaptation for Paramount Pictures' A Quiet Place series. Saber will publish the project in conjunction with EP1T0ME; meanwhile, development responsibilities reside with Montréal-based studio iLLOGIKA, whose talent includes Rainbow Six and Far Cry veterans. The studio plans to build a gameplay experience centered around A Quiet Place's "compelling suspense, emotion, and drama," though the story told will be completely original. Better still, a press release announcing the news confirms the project's status as a "single-player, story-driven horror adventure." The companies have yet to specify platforms and release-related details, though more information should emerge sometime later this year.

Embracer Group acquired Saber Interactive in February 2020 and allowed the World War Z developer to maintain its autonomy across all fronts. Thus, Saber counts as one of Embracer's many publishing labels. A Quiet Place, whenever it hits stores, will mark the first externally developed project from said publishing label.

No doubt it'll be interesting to see how the crew at iLLOGIKA translates A Quiet Place to the interactive medium. In terms of gameplay mechanics and tone, The Last of Us could very well prove a template of sorts. But the added emphasis on sound associated with A Quiet Place should ensure that players eventually find themselves lost in a rather unique horror experience.
