Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star, Evangeline Lilly talks about doing a potential A-Force movie after the Marvel Cinematic Universe's recent steps for female representation. While it took a while for a female lead to get their own movie with Captain Marvel, the film studio has still managed to make numerous female superheroes into household names with such characters as Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), to name a few. Following the female hero line-up scene in Avengers: Endgame, there grew major talks about doing an entirely female-led team up movie, but those ideas have only been limited to fan talks thus far.

One actor within the MCU is all for doing a female centered team up has been Lilly, the actress who portrays Hope Van Dyne, the Wasp. While speaking to CinePop about her role in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, she was asked if she was at all interested in doing an A-Force movie adapting the all-female team for the first time on screen, to which her response was positive and was very supportive of the idea of a female lead spin-off. Read her full comment below:

Yes! I would like to be on it. I would like to make it happen. That day that we did the scene in [Avengers:] Endgame where it was just us women was the most special day I've ever had. It was maybe tied with the most special day I've ever had filming a Marvel movie.

Why Marvel Needs To Make An A-Force Film

The A-Force moment in Avengers Endgame

The team known as A-Force first appeared in their own self-titled comic book series as part of the Secret Wars crossover event. The group initially consisted of She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru and a new character named Singularity, though over the course of the series, various other well known female heroes would revolve in and out, such as Captain Marvel, Spider-Woman, Squirrel Girl and America Chavez. The series aimed to be a pro-feminist comic and managed to become popular among readers. Almost immediately after its publication, there has been a demand to see A-Force make an appearance in a film or television adaptation within the MCU, though there has been very little response from the studio itself.

While it might be too soon to make an A-Force film, there is positive potential in seeing it being adapted one day. Marvel still continues to introduce new characters in their films and televisions shows. The reason for an A-Force movie not being announced right now could be due to them still wanting to build their female character recognizability. While the famous Avengers: Endgame sequence displayed a large set of female characters, there are still several noteworthy ones that, at the time, had yet to make an appearance such as Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk. Now that their female heroes are being built up, A-Force is much more likely now.

Despite having a divisive Phase 4, Marvel continues to produce more movies and television shows, and they are not showing any signs of stopping. A-Force would make for a great addition to their line-up of films and TV shows, though when and where it would fit in to the overall MCU timeline is another story. Lilly hopes to see the potential film feature the entire pantheon of female heroes taking on a major Thanos-like threat, though such a villain would seem unlikely. While Lilly being in A-Force won't happen anytime soon, audiences and fans can at least see her in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania next.
