Reality TV fans have long come to accept that not everything they see on the screen is a depiction of real life, but a number of 90 Day Fiancé cast members have confirmed that certain aspects of the show are scripted, staged, or manipulated. The extended franchise has aired eight years of international relationship ups and downs that have elicited strong reactions among invested viewers. However, a number of 90 Day Fiancé franchise cast have called the show out for being staged as they defended their portrayals in the franchise.

TLC is well-known for having strict contracts that prevent cast members from spoiling their storylines or gossiping about the show and network. However, that hasn’t stopped cast members from seemingly breaking their contracts to defend themselves to fans. Viewers can become very animated about the conflicts they witness onscreen, which leads to them attacking cast members online for their behavior. Some franchise cast members have chosen to defend themselves by revealing which situations were manipulated, while other cast members have wanted to set the record straight to help rehabilitate their images.

Though the 90 Day Fiancé fans appreciate when cast members are candid and reveal what really happens behind the scenes, spoiling franchise secrets is likely an easy way to earn the wrath of TLC and be fired from future franchise content. Unfortunately, spilling secrets doesn’t make a huge impact on how cast members are viewed by fans. Viewers often chose to forgive cast members who are genuinely apologetic and take accountability for their bad actions. Even if cast members claim that 90 Day Fiancé content was scripted, viewers are still angry that they chose to behave in such a manner on camera. Discover which cast members most vocally called the show scripted.

Avery Mills

90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days fan-favorite cast member Avery Mills is the latest cast member to come forward with claims that the show is scripted. Avery took to TikTok to claim that she secretly married Omar prior to what was shown onscreen because a cameraman warned them that the show would try to interfere with their nuptials. Avery claimed that she was completely acting during the scene that featured her getting mad at Omar for not preparing for their wedding since they had already tied the knot that morning. Avery has been vocal about exposing falsities on the show, as both she and Omar have made it clear that they will not return to the franchise despite their popularity among viewers.

Becky Lichtwerch

Libby Potthast’s problematic sister Becky Lichtwerch is one franchise cast member who called the show scripted after she became viewed as a franchise villain for meddling in Libby’s marriage to Andrei Castravet on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 6. Becky was furious after her chaotic fights with Libby and Andrei led to viewers attacking her. She claimed on Instagram that her storyline with her family was “ONLY for entertainment” and that how she acts is “a character I portray on a show.” Though Becky alluded to the show being fictitious, many viewers still held her accountable for choosing to behave so badly on a reality show.

Andrew Kenton

90 Day Fiancé season 8 cast member Andrew Kenton was not happy that he was viewed as the villain after his relationship with Amira Lollysa imploded. Andrew made his feelings known on social media as he exposed aspects of the show and tried to paint Amira, who has a new boyfriend, as a clout-chaser and user. Andrew was outspoken about how he thought he received a bad edit from TLC. He alluded to being misrepresented and shared content that suggested he was asked to stage scenes in front of the cameras. Andrew referred to the editing as "highly selective"  and was openly unhappy about how his romance with Amira came across to viewers.

Mohamed Jbali

Mohamed Jbali was a part of one of the franchise’s most chaotic relationships. The 90 Day Fiancé season 2 star earned plenty of attention for his relationship with Danielle Mullins, which led to Mohamed wanting to set the record straight after Danielle continued to bring up their relationship for years. Mohamed revealed on Facebook that he had to film his divorce scene with Danielle two times, showing that what plays out on the screen is not always accurate. He told his fans that he was asked to put on the same clothing and redo the scene with his ex-wife in front of the cameras to help move their story along. Therefore, it's safe to say that Danielle and Mohamed's relationship might have been played up for the cameras.

Deavan Clegg

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way cast member Deavan Clegg was not too pleased with being named a franchise villain after her explosive relationship with South Korean native Jihoon Lee aired. Deavan, who appears to be on the outs with TLC, straight up told a fan that 90 Day Fiancé was scripted. She also blamed editing for how she was portrayed to viewers. Deavan claimed that production dramatized the scene of her daughter running into traffic. Her need to slam the show for being staged might be one of the reasons why she hasn't been invited back on the show.

Anfisa Arkhipchenko

Similar to Mohamed, season 4 star Anfisa Arkhipchenko is well-known among franchise fans for her infamously turbulent relationship with Jorge Nava. She has since tried to reinvent herself from the volatile woman she was onscreen, which has led to Anfisa picking apart aspects of the show. When asked on Instagram if the show was scripted, Anfisa wrote back, "Not scripted per se but there's a plan for everything.” She explained that certain scenes were planned out ahead of time and that her time on the show was like a “role” that she “played.” However, she doesn’t have regrets about her time in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise despite her polarizing reputation.
