And fans soon got to see the scandalous Ed date restaurant manager Liz who was again half his age on the Discovery+ spinoff. This relationship too crashed and burned and ended with a leaked phone call between Big Ed and Liz filled with verbal abuse. But September of this year revealed that Big Ed and Liz are about to get married.
San Diego photographer Big Ed, 55, was initially a 90 Day Fiancé fan-favorite however, a year later, fans were signing petitions for TLC to #cancelBigEd. Interestingly, the same petition was also shared by Liz, 28, on her Instagram after the call recording had surfaced. So last month when the reports of Big Ed being engaged to Liz started pouring in, 90 Day Fiancé fans refused to believe them. But along with the headlines, there were also photos of Big Ed and Liz with a huge rock on her finger at a Santa Barbara nightclub. The man was introducing Liz to the crowd as his beautiful fiancée and announced that they were getting married.
With Liz being busy dropping multiple hints that she’s gotten back together with the infamous 90 Day Fiancé star, seeing Big Ed’s name in the list of confirmed 90 Day: The Single Life cast members has left fans confused. On the big reveal post of Big Ed by 90 Day Fiancé on Instagram, several viewers are asking things such as, “Isn’t he engaged to Liz?” and “Thought him and Liz were engaged, how can he be on this next series?” A few others have also reached the conclusion that Liz and Ed have already broken up, barely two months after their engagement which has made him eligible for 90 Day: The Single Life all over again.
However, a Reddit user u/bumpusmydumpus had an explanation as to why Big Ed is in season 2 of the spinoff. “Their engagement was announced not too long ago. They would have filmed this season before they got engaged,” the 90 Day Fiancé viewer deduced. Because Big Ed and Liz’s reconciliation and journey to their engagement has possibly been already filmed, the network may have thought it’s a great idea to take fans through the process. In all likeliness, Big Ed’s storyline may show him trying to date a few more younger girls until he retraces his steps back to Liz, and she shockingly happens to say “yes.”
A similar storyline is currently being followed by 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way couple Kenneth Niedermeier and Armando Rubio on season 3. The pair confirmed they wed in Mexico in May this year, but fans wanting to know how they crossed their hurdles and if Armando’s father will attend the wedding is what’s making their plot interesting. While Big Ed and Liz’s 90 Day Fiancé storyline has often been accused of being fake, there are a few fans who agree it’s like watching a car crash that one can’t dare to look away from just yet.
