TLC's 90 Day Fiance star Jorge Nava revealed that he's lost 125 pounds so far while serving time in prison for drug charges, and he's sharing exactly how he's achieved the dramatic weight loss.
Viewers were first introduced to Jorge and his fiance Anfisa Arkhipchenko on season 4 of the popular TLC show when Russian-born Anfisa moved to the US to be with Jorge, who she'd met online through Facebook. From the beginning, Anfisa made it clear that she expected Jorge to support her financially and fans thought she seemed self-absorbed and vain, which is why viewers were surprised that she was planning on staying with Jorge after his arrest. In 2018 Jorge was arrested for having 293 pounds of marijuana in his car in Arizona, for which he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. He began serving his sentence in September of 2018, and recently it's been revealed that Jorge looks much different physically than he did when he entered the state facility in Arizona.
In a newly released mugshot, Jorge's dramatic weight loss is evident and the California native revealed that he's lost 125 pounds (via E! Online) thanks to a new fitness regime. In an interview organized by his attorney, Jorge said he is "glad that people are noticing some positivity out of such a negative outcome" and he hopes that "people can see that I am able to turn things around even though I am at the lowest point in my life." Part of his weight loss is due to a strict fitness regime which includes twice-daily workouts with a fellow inmate. The TLC personality explained that he & his buddy workout every day at 4 am and again in the afternoon and he says "we both motivate each other and we push ourselves to the limit pretty much." Jorge added that the workouts are mostly "military-based" and involve "lots of jogging." He also attributed part of his dramatic weight loss to the situation he's in because Jorge said "I had a really bad diet when I was out in the free world" whereas he doesn't have the option to have fast food or a lot of junk food while incarcerated. Jorge also shared that his overall goal was "to be in the best physical and healthiest shape possible" and he says feels "healthy and energetic" and he feels more confident in general.
During his interview, Jorge also addressed his marriage to Anfisa, which he is just as focused on as he is on his health and fitness. Despite the rumors that the couple may have split since Jorge went to prison, he says that he and Anfisa are doing "really well" and his hope "is to basically get out and start life over with a different point of view." He explains that he doesn't want "to make the same mistake that I already did. I learned from all of the negativity." Jorge is expected to be released from the correctional facility in August 2020, at which point he will have served just shy of two years of his two and a half year sentence. While her husband has been away, Anfisa has also gone through some physical changes as she has taken up bodybuilding and has been participating in fitness competitions to keep herself busy.
With Anfisa and Jorge working on themselves physically and mentally while they're apart, fans' opinions of the couple have shifted and many are confident that the pair will be able to succeed in their marriage upon Jorge's release. One advantage that Jorge and Anfisa have in this situation is they started their relationship as a long-distance couple so this isn't the first time they've had to communicate from afar and live separately. Hopefully, once Jorge is released the pair will be able to move forward with their relationship and grow together in their marriage.
90 Day Fiancé airs Sundays at 8 pm EST on TLC.
