While Yara Zaya is busy rebuffing gold digger rumors, the 90 Day Fiancé star has also been accused of trying too hard on social media. The glamorous Ukrainian woman has been facing her critics during season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? with her signature clap backs and confidence. However, Yara has been accused of being a try-hard with her glamorous and carefully curated social media presence.

When Yara first appeared on the 90 Day Fiancé scene during season 8, her glamorous lifestyle and demanding needs established her as a prima donna to her New Orleans spouse Jovi Dufren. Though she is now largely liked among fans, Yara continues to receive criticism that she is a gold digger despite her claims that she works and brings home a good chunk of the family’s finances. The latest Happily Ever After episode saw Yara lamenting the fact that her husband is always traveling for work and leaving her to tend to baby Mylah. However, all appears well on Yara’s social media as she is known for posting glamorous images of her life including designer brands that flex her luxurious lifestyle as a fashionista.

While Yara has loyal followers who appreciate her style, others are more critical of the image she projects on social media compared to her blunt and humorous TV persona. One viewer posted on Reddit in a post titled, “IG vs Reality: Yara edition.” The user wrote, “I had a pretty positive view of Yara after watching the show, but keeping up with her on IG has actually lowered my opinion. It feels like she's trying way too hard to present this lavish glamorous lifestyle and constantly flex designer clothes, bags, jewelry, cars, etc.” The person added that Yara’s social media life appears very different from the one she reveals on TV. “She strikes me as a brand girl even before 90 day,” one top comment reads. Given her past on Ukrainian reality TV, many viewers have been suspicious of Yara’s intentions to be on TV and marry Jovi.

90 Day Fiance Happily Ever After Jovi Dufren Yara Zaya

Many men & women from former USSR countries act exactly like Yara. They're very judgemental, materialistic & vain. It's like they're overcompensating & feel very insecure about their poverty-stricken backgrounds,” one commenter weighed in. Others have criticized Yara for being unsupportive of Jovi traveling often for work because they think it is his money that satisfies her lifestyle needs. However, others are more understanding and think Yara affords her own items and isn’t as out of line as some people think. “I see a few designer purses and a nice car, that’s it. The clothes look nice but not designer. She seems like a normal 20 something making use of her 15 minutes to me, nbd,” another commenter wrote. Others had nothing but harsh words to share. “She’s shallow, vain and selfish. She’s always been this way even before Jovi. He’s a fool for knocking her up,” one critic commented.

Due to her social media presence, Yara also lost fan sympathy when her COVID-19 positive diagnosis was revealed on Happily Ever After. On the show, Yara was devastated to discover she was sick and blamed the people in New Orleans for not wearing a mask as she did. However, viewers recalled that Yara was out partying and chronicling her antics on social media during the height of the pandemic last year. Therefore, many franchise fans think Yara presents a startling difference between who she is on social media and who she appears to be on shows such as 90 Day Fiancé.
