Yamir Castillo, the former 90 Day Fiancé cast member, ex-husband of Chelsea Macek, and Myla Vox popstar, has given fans a shocking update about his U.S. citizenship. Nicaragua’s Yamir and Chelsea from Galesburg, Illinois were introduced to TLC viewers on season two and even married in the finale, only to divorce after their 90 Day Fiancé stint ended. Chelsea and Yamir split in 2016, supposedly over his wanting to move to Chicago. However, it was later revealed by Chelsea, who recently remarried, that the pair broke up after she came out as queer. As per their 90 Day Bares All, appearance, Chelsea and Yamir are still on speaking terms, but what is going on with his American dream?

Chelsea and Yamir met during a concert for his boyband Myla Vox in Nicaragua, where Chelsea was volunteering with the Peace Corps. After their quick engagement, Yamir took a leap of faith and moved to the States with Chelsea on a K-1 visa. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s parents supported her and Yamir financially and the couple was soon married. But Chelsea’s town lacked opportunities, which is probably why Yamir supposedly moved to Chicago after she filed for divorce in November 2016. Back then, the 90 Day Fiancé couple kept the details of their personal lives private.

However, in an interview much later, Chelsea revealed Yamir was supportive of her when she decided to end their relationship of five years. “It wasn’t him, and it was nothing that he had done, it was something inside of me,” Chelsea proceeded to reveal. She later got into a relationship with a lady but recently married a new husband, helicopter mechanic Daniel Colombo Verni, in April 2021. While Chelsea is a Colorado Springs resident, Yamir, who supposedly lives in Chicago, revealed that he finally got his American citizenship.

The 90 Day Fiancé alum has embraced the Latin genre and has made music videos such as "Frente a Frente," which he also performed on 90 Day Bares All, and, more recently, "Fin de Semana," which fans are loving for its summery vibe. “Thanks for giving me this opportunity 🇺🇸 ❤️finally a #USA #citizen,” wrote Yamir in his post, looking unrecognizable with his short hair and all-black attire as he held the American flag in his hand and smiled outside a government building. Congratulatory messages from his 27.9k plus followers poured in for Yamir, who wrote things such as, “Congratulations!! And perfect timing, before the 4th!!” Another fan commented, “I look forward to all you do, you deserve success!

It’s been five years since Chelsea and Yamir split, and their appearance on 90 Day Bares All saw her mention that he was aware of her being bisexual when they were dating. “You can always count on me for the rest of your life," Yamir wrote in an IG tribute for his ex-wife a year after their divorce. With no hard feelings between the 90 Day Fiancé couple, both Yamir and Chelsea are now pursuing happier lives separately.
