In spite of dating since 2012, Sumit kept his marriage, which took place three years ago, a secret from Jenny. But he did bear the brunt of his wife filing a criminal charge against him along with asking $20,000 for a divorce. Jenny, 62, started off her romance with Sumit, 32, posing as Michael Jones on Facebook in 2012, and has been committed ever since. Sure, she was catfished, kept in the dark about his marriage, ridiculed by his in-laws, and also hidden away from his family, but Jenny refused to give up on her reality TV romance. Sumit’s parent showing up during the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way mid-season finale opened a can of worms when fans realized Jenny had overstayed her welcome at their house way back in 2013. And yes, she'd also indulged in some sneaky behavior which led to them marrying Sumit off ASAP. However, while Sumit still continued his long-distance romance with Jenny in America, it seems to have been Sumit’s wife who suffered the consequences.
The latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé showed Sumit heading to court for a domestic violence case his wife had slammed on him while demanding a $500 monthly maintenance fee. Although the charges were supposedly withdrawn by the Indian woman at the end of the episode, TLC viewers wondered what had prompted her to make such a major move. And naturally, just like 90 Day Fiancé had roped in Sumit’s parents, fans are expecting his wife to make an appearance too. Twitter has been rife with the show’s viewers siding with the woman and calling Sumit a loser for betraying her. A user wrote to TLC, “I wouldn't be the least bit surprised his wife (yes, his wife, because they're not divorced) is trying to hurt him. No matter how the marriage was/has been, she and her family have been humiliated. And he is choosing a 60+-year-old woman instead of one from his culture.” Another fan supported the woman for having filed the criminal charges by tweeting, “Good for his wife, I would ask more after the humiliation he put her through. Besides, isn't Jenny getting a live-in home attendant for the elderly with Sumit, lets pay her then.”
Fans first felt frauded by Jenny when they learned that she’d not disclosed her 2013 India trip on 90 Day Fiancé. Although on Instagram, Sumit insisted that Jenny hadn’t lied, fans are still finding it hard to believe Jenny. A Twitter user commented how the term “poor Jenny” is a bit of a stretch by writing, “I have to disagree with the 'poor Jenny' bit...she has already been married, had at least 1 child, and is reinventing herself as a young girl...not appealing to me.” And on the other hand, there are 90 Day Fiancé fans who want Sumit’s wife to come forth and tell her side of the story. “I really want to hear from Sumit's wife. They gotta finally bring her on the Tell All this season,” reads a top liked tweet and another fan adds, “Sumit’s wife may not be completely in the wrong. He did whine a lot. But only Sumit and his wife know what went on behind closed doors.”
TLC is well known for shocking unsuspecting fans with family members of the cast to create extra drama every once in a while. And if Sumit’s parents dropping the bomb about Jenny’s India trip managed to incite so much hatred from fans towards the Palm Springs grandma, it's safe to assume that his wife will bring along a new wave of shocks.
