It’s been awhile since Jamal Menzies was revealed as his 90 Day Fiancé co-star Veronica Rodriguez’s love interest, and yet fans have a lot of questions about this supposed relationship. The 37-year-old single mom Veronica became a part of the TLC show as a side character in her ex-turned-best friend Tim Malcolm’s 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 3 storyline. Since then, Veronica has garnered a lot of love from fans, so much so that she got her own break on 90 Day: The Single Life season 3. It's possible that Veronica still needs publicity, or this relationship could be a ploy for Jamal to get more clout in the franchise.

Veronica was dating a financial professional named Grant Glaser when fans saw her in an episode of 90 Day Bares All with Tim in March 2021. Details of her breakup weren’t disclosed on 90 Day: The Single Life. This time, Veronica was serious about trying to find a husband. She was briefly married to her daughter Chloe’s biological dad, but he cheated on her, after which she was with Tim for over seven years. Nothing about Jamal’s personal life was told to fans during his mom Kim Menzies’ storyline with Usman Umar AKA "Sojaboy." There were questions about whether Jamal was gay, and some fans were too smitten by Jamal to care. However, Jamal's Tell-All appearance showed a side to him that was unfamiliar to fans.

90 Day Fiancé Star Jamal Isn't What Veronica Wants In A Partner

If it was Jamal's new personality that scarred fans, the shift in Veronica’s own bucket list was also a hard pill for them to swallow. Veronica is a decade older than Jamal and doesn’t date to hookup, while Jamal is not someone who wants to become exclusive. They live on opposite ends of the country, and Veronica was the one against moving when her previous love interest Justin suggested she do it. Justin wanted to pursue a relationship with Veronica, but she dumped him to instead try out a romance with 27-year-old Jamal after watching him on a previous Tell-All. Something about this contradictory behavior shown by Veronica, who’s otherwise headstrong about her decisions, is making her look like a hypocrite who will do anything to stay on TV.

90 Day Fiancé Fans Wanted Jamal On The Single Life

Ever since Jamal became known as Kim’s sensible son on 90 Day Fiancé, fans have wanted to see more of him. TLC first roped Jamal in for Pillow Talk with Kim, where he was a hit with fans. Some of Jamal’s admirers suggested that he should be cast in The Single Life, and the network heard their prayers only to give Jamal a dramatic entrance. Although the plan backfired thanks to Jamal coming across as thirsty with a rude attitude, Jamal became the talk of the town right from when his hands were shown in the previews to officially being revealed as Veronica’s partner. In the franchise, the villains somehow are the ones who get more attention, and 90 Day Fiancé cast member Jamal might have wanted to play the game, while he pretended to play with Veronica’s feelings.

90 Day Fiancé Stars Jamal & Veronica Are Following A Script

90 Day Fiance's Jamal Menzies and Veronica Rodriguez

Jamal and Veronica’s situationship can at best be described as a fling. Even if they were a couple, the news didn’t have to be addressed on the Tell-All because they weren't sure about where the relationship was headed. But after getting a whiff of their meeting, the 90 Day Fiancé producers might have approached Veronica and Jamal to talk about it on TV in exchange for more money. It could have also been the brainchild of TLC from the start to have staged a meeting between Jamal and Veronica, since her own storyline on The Single Life was boring. Fans stayed glued to TLC to find out who Veronica’s new boyfriend was. In the end, both she and Jamal got the publicity they wanted, with a sure chance of them returning to the spin-off for 90 Day: The Single Life season 4 in 2023.
