Former 90 Day Fiancé personality Geoffrey Paschel was found guilty of all charges brought against him, including assaulting and kidnapping his ex-fiancé, but that hasn’t stopped other franchise figures from supporting the American. Geoffrey’s rumored wife Varya Malina has voiced her support of the convicted criminal, who already served jail time for drug trafficking. Meanwhile, Varya’s close friend and 90 Day: The Single Life season 2 cast member Natalie Mordovtseva has also expressed her sympathies for Geoffrey. 90 Day Fiancé fans have since expressed their outrage with both Natalie and Varya.
Geoffrey Paschel became one of the most despised people to appear in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise after he pursued both Russian Varya and his on-again-off-again American partner Mary Wallace on 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days. Though Geoffrey had yet to be convicted of his alarming assault at the time, he had already been arrested for the crime and had a previous criminal history that landed him in jail. Many franchise fans are therefore angry with TLC for still allowing Geoffrey to appear on the show. Viewers have also extended their anger to the women who have publicly voiced their support for Geoffrey.
Reddit user U/heeeer3sjohnny expressed their disbelief over Natalie and Varya continuing to support Geoffrey in the wake of his conviction. "He is a convicted woman beater! What he did to his ex-fiancé (and likely other women) is horrific. How can women stand behind a convicted abuser? His poor victim(s)," the user wrote in their rant before expressing frustration over Natalie being cast on The Single Life season 2. Commenters agreed the reactions of Natalie and Varya were out of line, and they also called out Mary, who showed up to support Geoffrey in court. "Throw Mary into the mix too. From what I heard she was yelling at his victim at the courthouse. I hope Joffrey [sic] gets the max sentence. Stick it not only to him but his harem of simpers too," one top commenter wrote.
Some commenters expressed Varya was not sympathetic towards her fellow women after what she showed in franchise content. "Well we know varya hates women, especially women who have been romantically involved with this loser. So it does not shock me that she would take his side," another commenter wrote. Other commenters expressed disbelief over how the women could continue to support Geoffrey after his charge. "I am a survivor of DV and it amazed me how many people had the attitude of two sides to every story - even after seeing photographs of my injuries. It was as if they couldn't compute that their opinion of this person was utterly wrong," another commenter shared. "Someone on another thread brought up the point that Domestic Violence was decriminalized in Russia many years ago," one user wrote, as some viewers questioned if cultural differences explained the women supporting Geoffrey. However, Mary, an American, also stood by his side.
Varya has gone so far as to join Geoffrey’s son Dakota in asking for money for Geoffrey. Varya and Dakota wrote that they think Geoffrey is innocent and needs to be given justice. However, 90 Day Fiancé fans find that Geoffrey was given a chance to prove himself in court, which resulted in him receiving full guilty convictions for his various crimes. Though Geoffrey somehow still has people rallying behind him, he will face his sentencing on December 3. Many 90 Day Fiancé fans are happy to see Geoffrey put behind bars for what will likely be a very long time, given his shocking convictions and abusive behavior.
