Star of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, Usman Umar AKA Sojaboy claiming that TLC gave him a bad edit when they showed him calling his ex-girlfriend Zara behind Kim Menzies’ back has left many fans stunned. Usman has been on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days with two different women so far, including Kim and his ex-wife Lisa “Babygirl” Hamme. But after his split with Lisa and before making Kim his “official” girlfriend, Usman was in another long-distance relationship with a much younger American woman called Zara. Usman admitted he was in love with Zara before he met Kim in Tanzania to film a music video for a song inspired by his ex-girlfriend. And when Kim went back to the U.S. Usman contacted Zara again to address his feelings.
During Usman's video call with Zara, which was shown to have happened right after he saw Kim off at the airport, Usman said a lot of things that revealed his true feelings toward her. Usman told his ex-girlfriend Zara he missed her and admitted she was the “first lady that stick in my head all the time.” With his shirt unbuttoned and a flirty tone to his voice, Usman confessed he likes that Zara is attractive and young. At 26, Zara would have been able to give Usman kids whereas Kim wouldn’t. Usman explored the possibility of him getting back together with Zara and he wondered if she was a better option than Before the 90 Days' Kim. In his now-deleted Instagram post directed towards Sharp Entertainment, Usman claimed the call never happened right after Kim left for the airport. It seemingly took Usman two hours to be convinced to make the call since he never wanted to do it.
Usman lashed out at 90 Day Fiancé producers for making it look like he made the call after Kim’s exit. Usman claimed to have called Zara within his first five days in Tanzania. He wrote that it wasn’t fair. Usman warned TLC that they shouldn’t edit his story because the next time he wouldn’t tolerate it. But the post also had Usman saying things such as, “I wish Mom is alive she would have tell The World that Usman is a blessings to anyone around him” and “I make more money than my woman Kim.” Fans think it was disrespectful for Usman to first call Zara (on camera) even if Kim wasn't present in Zanzibar then. It was also ridiculous of Usman to bring Kim’s late mother Sally into the conversation because he hadn’t met her and surely didn’t know the late woman well.
Usman claimed Kim was glowing during the Tell-All because he treated her well. His trying to take credit for Kim’s happiness didn’t suit Usman well as her boyfriend. Usman calling Zara before or after Kim was in Tanzania also didn’t matter since he had invited the San Diego woman there to explore a relationship and gladly accepted the expensive gifts Kim brought him on Before the 90 Days. Moreover, Usman has said that he owes his fame to 90 Day Fiancé and TLC plenty of times, so it's strange for him to badmouth the team. Fans know that Usman wouldn’t mind coming back for another season even if it meant him breaking up with Kim and getting back together with Zara. After all, Usman was supposedly going to be on 90 Day Fiancé with Zara and Kim was merely a replacement for her.
Even if Usman was forced to pick up his phone and call Zara it doesn’t justify him talking naughty to her on the call and blushing upon seeing her smiling face. Maybe it was Usman’s way of showing loyalty to Kim by claiming he never called Zara on his own but production made him do it. If Usman really wanted to get into a battle with the 90 Day Fiancé crew, he wouldn’t have deleted his post and stood by his accusations against them. Besides, Usman mentioning “next time” in his caption also means he’s returning with a new spinoff or season soon enough. It was, after all, Usman who signed up to be on the show not once, but twice, and he’s smart enough to not let a third season slip out of his hands.
