Usman 'Sojaboy' Umar, a controversial cast member from 90 Day Fiancé, was full of surprises in 2022. Usman’s choices in women have always been surprising, considering that the 32-year-old Nigerian rapper seems to have an affinity for much older American ladies. In 2022, he continued to surprise viewers in a variety of ways.

Fans were first introduced to Usman while dating and then married Lisa Hamme on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4 in 2020. “Baby Girl Lisa,” as he liked to call her, was very demanding and quick to fly off the handle, and the couple ended up divorcing just a year later. Usman clearly has a type as during 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5, Usman started dating 52-year-old Kimberly Menzies, another older American woman with a quick temper and a big heart. Most recently, Kim and Usman have been appearing on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? season 7, where the majority of the surprises occurred.

Usman Seems To Have Genuine Feelings for Kimberly

One of the biggest surprises in 2022 was how caring and compassionate Usman has been toward Kimberly. Fans have always assumed Usman was on the 90 Day Fiancé franchise to promote his music career and get a green card. However, Usman seems to have a sparkle in his eyes when he looks at his fiancé. He has been standing up to his family, who were against the engagement at first, and he convinced them to give Kimberly their blessing. He has also been trying to build a connection with Kimberly’s grown son, Jamal Menzies, even giving him a PlayStation 5. Usman was also there for Kimberly when her mother passed away, showing compassion and legitimate concern for her well-being.

Usman’s Biggest Surprise Came When He Brought Up Adoption

Usman gave fans their biggest shock when he suggested that instead of taking a second wife to fulfill his need to have children by blood, he could adopt his nephew, Mahadi, from his brother, Mohammed. The plan had always been that to have children and make his family happy, Usman would marry another woman in Nigeria and have kids with her. Once Usman and Kimberly discovered that he could not get a green card in the U.S. if he is polygamous, plans had to change. Usman told Kimberly that the adoption of his brother’s son was a possible alternative.

As if that wasn’t mind-blowing enough, Usman stunned Kimberly, Jamal, and 90 Day Fiancé fans when he informed them he had not yet broached the subject with his brother. Kimberly and her son flew to Nigeria to meet Mohammed, his wife, and the child she might be raising. Kim, like everyone else, assumed that the adoption had already been discussed with Mahadi’s parents. Usman acted like it was no big deal that he hadn’t told them of his plans. He explained that he invited Mohammad and his family to visit him with the simple explanation of getting to know Kimberly and Jamal. When the bombshell dropped, it was a riveting experience for those involved and for all the 90 Day Fiancé fans watching the drama play out.
