90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days fans are wondering why Usman's mom did not give Lisa her blessing for marriage. The Nigerian mother hardly spoke two words, but she made herself very clear that she would not accept Lisa into her family.
The odd couple first met via social media after Lisa had finalized her divorce. The 30-year-old Nigerian rapper decided to pursue the 52-year-old American via her Facebook messages. The mother of one did not think that their relationship would turn into engagement but two years on she has flown to his home country to meet him. Usman recently admitted that Lisa was his "opportunity" to come to the United States to further his music career. Fans were not surprised by the admission of guilt, but more taken aback that the artist so nonchalantly expressed his sentiments.
The whole point of the trip for baby girl Lisa was to be able to gain permission from Usman’s mother to marry. The Pennsylvania native tried her best, which was not saying a lot, to meet all the customary standards. She went with Usman to the market to buy a decent goat as a gift and even wore a traditional Nigerian dress. She was working against the odds as Usman knew deep down that his mother would not accept Lisa, as she's an older white, American woman.
During Sunday’s all-new episode, fans watched as for once Lisa swallowed her pride and stayed quiet on her taxi ride to Usman’s hometown. Upon arrival, fans could see the village was not big nor fancy, mostly dirt and small shack-like houses. The couple met with his family which consisted of his mother, older sister, and sisters-in-law. All the women wore long dresses and had their hair covered as per the Muslim traditions. Lisa stayed pretty quiet but still had a smirk on her face which did not read well, as viewers could tell she was ready to foam at the mouth. Usman explained to his mother his intentions, with his older sister cutting him off every other word, saying no to the arrangement first. He then looked to his mother who looked unhappy and she too, said no, explaining to the cameras that Lisa was not of their tribe.
For fans of the TLC show it became quite obvious the situation had caused tension and Usman advised the couple to leave and go back to the hotel. Finally, Lisa was able to say her piece as she climbed into the car, scolding her boyfriend about not planning better and telling him he could have been working on this for the past two years. Fans were thankful the rapper’s mother said no as Lisa is too controlling in their relationship. However, it seems that they either disregarded Usman's mother or somehow got her blessing as photos of Lisa and Usman's wedding have been leaked, showing that somehow through all of the issues they managed to get married after all. Fans can only wonder what Usman's mother thinks of the union.
