There are many fans who feel the 90 Day Fiancé franchise has become bloated with spin-offs, and in 2022, it’s time for TLC to trim the fat. Several franchise shows simply aren’t resonating with viewers, and the network would be wise to cancel the series that aren’t working and devote those resources towards more popular spin-offs.

90 Day Fiancé is a tremendously popular franchise, so it’s no surprise that the core series has spawned over a dozen spin-offs. But fans have been getting more and more critical, and there have been a lot of complaints about the recent series that have been added to the franchise. It’s high time that TLC reassess its programming priorities and give some spin-offs the axe.

90 Day: The Single Life

This once highly-anticipated spin-off has become highly controversial, and its popularity is steadily declining. The casting for seasons 1 and, especially, 2 have been universally panned, and many viewers complain that The Single Life seems to be particularly contrived. A lot of fans are already reportedly fast-forwarding through multiple stars’ segments, and it could be time for TLC to call The Single Life a failure.

90 Day: Foody Call

David and Annie Toborowsky on 90 Day Foody Call 4

Foody Call has proven to be a major miss with fans, and TLC should consider scrapping the entire spin-off. The combination of explicit sex talk and cooking demonstrations was nauseating to viewers, and the brief season 1 was not well received. Though there are signs that production on Foody Call season 2 is already underway, TLC shouldn’t waste any more time or money on this spin-off.

Loren and Alexei: After the 90 Days

Loren and Alexei Brovarnik 90 Day Fiancé

Compared to their companion series, David & Annie: After the 90 Days, Loren and Alexei’s new TLC spin-off is a snoozefest. Though fans like Loren and Alexei as a couple, that doesn’t mean they make for good TV. There isn’t enough conflict or spice to keep viewers entertained, and it would be a good idea to limit this spin-off to one season and give another franchise couple a chance at a solo show.

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?

Brandon Gibbs Julia Trubkina 90 Day Fiance Happily Ever After

Happily Ever After? is great in theory, but the problem is that after cast members say I do on 90 Day Fiancé, their primary drama is resolved. Viewers care about compelling content, not mundane details from stars’ everyday lives. On Happily Ever After?, the stakes are always much lower, and the show often seems to be stretching to create drama. It would be more prudent to expand the limited spin-off 90 Day Diaries, so fans could get updates on more cast members while skipping over the more boring details.

There are several spin-offs in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise that aren’t popular with viewers, and TLC would do well to consider canceling them and making room for shows that fans actually want more of. The franchise has gotten more controversial, and it’s at least partially due to some of the major misses TLC has made with its ill-advised spin-off decisions, so it might be time for the network to reassess.
