Tom Brooks of 90 Day Fiancé gave a sub-par apology after fat-shaming Darcey Silva on the recent episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Tom showed his true colors and lack of respect for women after he not only revealed that he had been cheating on Darcey, but then smirked as he asked her if she had gained weight.
Darcey Silva has been a gold mine for humor and tragedy surrounding the hit TLC show due to her inability to pick out a decent boyfriend. Tom Brooks was first a shoulder to lean on when the twin was going through her breakup with controlling Jesse Meester, and soon after Tom turned into Silva’s next foreign boyfriend. The couple seemed to get along, but the reality star soon lost control of her emotions and made herself unappealing to Brooks. No matter what Darcey did, it didn't seem to matter to Tom as the two were just woefully mismatched.
The Nottingham gentleman made a great first impression when he debuted last season to support his girlfriend. He spoke eloquently and said all the right stuff but after the tell-all reunion special something changed within his attitude. He started working out, going out, and overall living in his 15 minutes of fame to its full capacity. On last night’s episode, Brooks shook the couple’s meeting up but acting like a complete fool. He sat, slyly in his chair as Silva paraded to the table and both passive-aggressively attacked one another. When the conversation eventually came to an end Silva kindly offered to cover the bill for their coffee. But as she reached into her purse Brooks questioned if she had put on weight. Viewers were horrified but the Englishman’s ability to fat shame a woman he used to date and felt sickened by his callous attitude towards his infraction.
The reality star was hit with immense backlash from fans who found him to be disgusting. The TLC personality took to his Instagram directly after the show to say what he did was "inappropriate." That post can be seen above via @90dayfiancenews. But in a matter of minutes, Brooks changes his tune and took down his post only to post a new excuse blaming his outburst on the producer's editing. He wrote in bold, red lettering saying that the editing was out of context. Fans were quick to point out that if he never fat-shamed her there would have been nothing to edit.
Brooks has lost the respect of many viewers for his heartless behavior. Naturally, some still found him loveable and blamed everything on Darcey for being crazy. But true fans know what Brooks did was unacceptable, and frankly was a low blow. He may have fallen to the bottom of the most unliked man on the show, and this includes Geoffrey Paschel, Big Ed, and his new pal Jesse Meester.
