90 Day Fiancé star Tim Malcolm has addressed rumors of him being gay plenty of times since his 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 3 debut with Veronica Rodriguez. In Tim's storyline, he flew to Colombia to meet his girlfriend Jeniffer Tarazona. Tim’s ex Veronica, who had turned into his best friend, was very much a part of his life. She even gave him her engagement ring, so he could propose to Jeniffer with it. But upon meeting Jeniffer, Tim showed no interest in her sexually and lacked intimacy.
Jeniffer emasculated Tim by asking him if he was gay and calling him “p***y” repeatedly. She asked her boyfriend to man up, but claimed it was a joke between them. Jeniffer said Tim was “very delicate” and not her type, and when asked at the Tell-All whether they had sex or not, Tim confirmed they hadn’t. Tim planned to get Jeniffer to visit the U.S., but decided otherwise when he realized her visa would be expensive after spending money on a costly piece of equipment. Meanwhile, Jeniffer said Tim cared more about his business, and the two eventually split. Even after Jeniffer was out of Tim’s life and he had a new girlfriend, viewers asked Tim if he was transgender or gay.

In an October 2019 interview with ET, Tim admitted a lot of people were speculating that “there’s all kinds of issues going on.” According to Tim, sex was not as important to him as it once was. “My biggest goal was just building a foundation that I thought would be able to last because I don't want to be divorced,” Tim, who has never been married, said. “I think that's just strange that society just thinks if a man says no then he's gay. If a woman says no, it's fine,” Tim remarked, while calling out the double standards of society.
90 Day Fiancé cast member Tim confessed he has “some feminine traits,” but added, “the gay thing was kind of out of left field for me." He then clarified, “I'm not transgender. I think it's cool for the people that want to do that if that's what you want to do with your life, but that's not me." Tim recalled fans screenshotting a scene between him and Jeniffer in a hot tub to look for signs of “scars” from when he apparently had his breasts removed, which he found “outlandish” and “laughable.”

Tim has a sassy personality, and a style to match it. However, at times, he has worn some debatable outfits on TV and on social media that get negative fan reactions. One look that Tim sported was during the 90 Day Fiancé season 9 Tell-All. Tim was partnered with Kenneth Niedermeier to sit backstage and offer live commentary during the taping. He wore black knee-high boots with a gray jeans combo, and was trashed for his look that some fans thought was ridiculous.
At the same time, Tim was called gay by people on the internet just based on his outfit. To retaliate, Tim shared a screenshot of a tweet on his Instagram stories from user edenwillow that read, “The amount of Gay Panic that Tim has unleashed by simply having style without being gay is kind of disturbing honestly.” Tim captioned the story by writing the word “Facts” to set the record straight.

In November 2022, Tim did a surprise AMA on his Instagram stories. As expected, there were relentless questions asking Tim if he is gay. One 90 Day Fiancé fan asked Tim, “Have you ever been with a man?” to which he replied with a simple “no.” Tim continued, “Never been with a man, never kissed a man.” He also said he never wanted to be with a man and never had any fantasies about men either. Tim admitted he was happy being a man because that was the way he was “born to be,” and also has “never had fantasies about being a woman,” contrary to what some 90 Day Fiancé fans have supposedly assumed.
