The Internet has posited that Lana, one of the women featured on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, was scamming her partner David Murphey and already is married. While most scammers for these seem to be college students or women in their early twenties, the theory is that Lana is in her thirties and was manipulating David with no promise of commitment. The show did confirm that Lana is a real person, with the footage from a leaked episode. Though even the Internet didn't believe that, theorizing it was another trick.

Lana and David were quite a contentious couple on the show, with the former showing ample red flags. She refused to reveal a fair amount of information about herself, and David showed that he wasn't good with boundaries, hiring a private investigator to find out who she really was. A sensible person would have broken it off after being stood up after a certain amount of times. The scammer theories have abounded, even that she was a potential catfish due to having a different name on a dating site. She wanted money from him, and lied about who she was.

Reddit has floated the theory that Lana was scamming David because catfishing for money is a thing, and on top of that she's married. There is no proof unless the producers decide to confirm or deny it, but their reasons are having seen this behavior before. They highlight how certain European sites pay women for their photos and pose as them, or asked the women in question to if they wanted to make a cut as potential suitors paid to talk to them. With how Lana refused to meet him for seven years, it is quite possible that she is a scammer in that sense. If the theory is true, the marriage status motivated her to put David off and string him along for potential cash. In the meantime, the comments mention that the website where David and Lana met has suffered bad publicity as a result.

Hiding your identity while pursuing a relationship is not new; it can even lead to some strange storylines in fiction. In real life and with the Internet, however, there is a legitimate fear of someone lying to you about who they are and if you are available. Lana may have been hard up for money and couldn't resist the opportunity, justifying it with David not having a sense of boundaries.

We don't have proof that she's married. The Internet may just be getting defensive about her lack of honesty. With that said, she has lied about other things, so she may have lied about this. We just have to wait on official confirmation.
