In a preview clip for the next episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, Sumit Singh demonstrated a sudden change of heart about becoming a father. Sumit and his wife, Jenny Slatten, have been part of the 90 Day Fiance franchise for several years, first appearing in 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 1 and continuing on through seasons 2 and 3. The couple has been together for over a decade and recently got married, and 90 Day Fiancé viewers have been able to see the full trials and tribulations of their disagreements in married life.

In a Happily Ever After preview clip, shared by ET, Sumit confides in his business partner Rohit that he is considering having children with Jenny. Rohit reacts with a quick stunned look that mirrors the stated reactions of Sumit's parents, as the 30-year age gap between Jenny and Sumit poses obvious problems for this plan. Sumit responds that the couple "can adopt or I can do surrogacy." Sumit believes that his parents want him to have children as part of a secure future, but Rohit points out that this is a new desire for his friend and one that seems ill-advised and spurious. "If Sumit will adopt a kid, I don't know if it will resolve the things or make things more complicated," Rohit says.

When pressed on the matter, Sumit responds that he has never had any kind of conversation with Jenny about whether she wants children. Jenny has three adult daughters from a previous marriage in addition to several grandchildren, and 90 Day Fiancé fans have already taken Sumit to task for being selfish in wanting her to have more children. Rohit has a similar response, telling Sumit that he and Jenny "have to understand each other now and also after marriage have to understand each other." Sumit also explains that he does not want to move to America, as he will "lose his family for good" if he follows Jenny there.

This level of miscommunication and deceit is well-known to those who have been following Sumit and Jenny's story. The relationship began with Sumit pretending to be an Englishman named Michael Jones and continued through a Matryoshka doll's worth of deceptions, eventually culminating in the reveal that Sumit was already married. Despite all of these lies, Jenny has attempted to make it work with Sumit in India, to varying degrees of success. Attempting to hide plans for a child from his wife is standard operating procedure for Sumit as he attempts to hold on to his relationship and his home while still pleasing his overbearing mother.

Still, 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? fans hope that this initial planning will lead to a more organized Sumit. At the moment, his plans appear to be adjusted towards pleasing his mother above all else, but if Rohit's advice makes an impact, then this dysfunctional couple could possibly move towards a more ready state. 90 Day Fiancé fans have noted Jenny's recently aggressive behavior towards Sumit, and while this has not dulled Sumit's willingness to be with her, both of their recent actions show that they have some ways to go in order to be ready for a child together.

90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EDT on TLC.
