Fans of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way believe that Steven Johnston and Alina Skordanova getting married with cats as their special guests was the worst possible idea. When Steven went around carrying crates all over their Antalya neighborhood, so he could pick up cats and take them to the venue to surprise Alina, it came across as an outrageous yet sweet gesture. However, 90 Day Fiancé fans soon saw through Steven for this supposedly cute plan, realizing that it was just another manipulation technique he was using to love-bomb Russian woman, Alina. While Alina tends to forgive Steven for all of his mistakes, fans are calling him out for being a horrible person who irresponsibly put the cats under stress.

While Steven may think that cats are people just like him and Alina, they surely had not RSVP’d for his wedding, during which they had to stay in the carrier for long hours. Alina’s love of cats was documented in an earlier episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, where she had introduced her new friends in Turkey with their adorable names. While Alina did not get to meet new people due to the pandemic, Mr. Cuddles, Cucumber, Cactus, and Cow Cat became her best friends. “They give me like, good energy,” Alina had confessed, but what Steven did with the poor animals was inhumane, according to fans. Steven even desperately climbed trees while searching for “the regulars” they are “super close” to, but managed to locate only Mr. Cuddles and Cow Cat, who “were just chilling” on the same bench.

On his way to the wedding venue, Steven also found a different cat, Lazerrunner, because he was cute “and Alina loves cuteness.” After asking permission from the venue managers, Steven placed the cats inside their crates, where they remained for the entire ceremony. After watching the finale, a Reddit user, u/BestPastaBolognese, asked what was wrong with Steven by writing, “The amount of stress and fear these cats went through is unbelievable. This is for a cat a very terrible scary situation.” Other Redditors were in agreement, believing that if Steven wanted the feline guests so badly, he should have chosen the park as a venue. Some people wondered how long the filming of the wedding took and if the cats were given enough food or water while being cooped up in an unfamiliar place.

Steven Cats Alina Turkey Wedding Married In 90 Day Fiance

Someone asked why no one from the production crew tried to stop Steven from pulling off the stunt. Then again, some viewers were sure this was a 90 Day Fiancé producer-driven angle to play up the “Steven is so cute” schtick. "If they had gotten out away from the home they know it could have been a disaster and possibly a life-threatening situation for the cats. I see what he was trying to do, but he really doesn’t think things through,” posted u/MissyMerman. Thankfully, the 90 Day Fiancé Twitter page posted that Steven and Alina’s first stop after their wedding ceremony was their neighborhood park, so they could take their cat guests back to their home.

Cats are known to hate being in carriers, even for shorter periods of time. If Steven did care about them so much, he shouldn’t have taken them away from their home in the first place. “To crate an animal and hold it hostage for this asinine reason of ‘watching’ a wedding is ridiculous,” Twitter user @Zsmom54337454 stated. Still, Alina, who’d defended Steven in the past when fans spotted him kicking a dog on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way thought it was a “very touching” and “manly gesture,” which proved that he knows her well.
