There are many 90 Day Fiancé stars that fans criticize, but Stephanie Davison seems to be creeping to the top of the list. Viewers are divided on just what to think of her—for some, her behavior on and off screen makes them uncomfortable, but for others, her actions and comments can be offensive. After a bizarre cash giveaway binge, Stephanie posted to Instagram with some very insensitive hashtags, and fans aren’t happy with the way she cluelessly flaunts her privilege.

In season 8, Stephanie has been in a relationship first with her fiancé Ryan and then, after an explosive breakup, with his cousin Harris. The Michigan native has gained a reputation as a sugar mama for the way she flashes her cash and financially supports her boyfriends. Recently, Stephanie celebrated International Happiness Day by giving away money to strangers, and then continued the altruism with an Instagram giveaway. Her generosity was applauded, but the hashtags in her post raised eyebrows.

The post details how Stephanie will be taking a fan on a “$1,000 shopping spree” and contained questionable hashtags, including “uneducated people are always the most negative,” “trolls live in trailer parks,” and “I love giving money to smart people.” After seeing the hashtags, fans said “she’s the EPITOME of privilege,” and claimed she only gives money away to get people to like her. They rightly pointed out that “educated does not equal better, smarter, or optimistic,” adding that just because someone lives in a trailer park does not make them a “troll.”

Stephanie’s hashtags represent a very narrow and misguided mindset. An education has no morality associated with it and being educated doesn’t make a person good or bad. It also highlights her privilege, because unfortunately, not everyone is privileged enough to have access to a good education, and that doesn’t make them a bad person. The oblivious sugar mama also insulted individuals living in trailer parks, which is an incredibly cheap shot considering many trailer park residents are under financial duress and often have few other options.

The 90 Day Fiancé star’s tone-deaf hashtags turned off fans, but it’s doubtful that’s going to ruffle Stephanie’s feathers. She stands by her behavior, and if viewers were hoping to hear more of her side of the story, they’re out of luck. Stephanie has revealed that she will not be on the Tell-All episode at the end of the season. Her obliviousness to the way most people live is not likely to change soon, but she could at least cut out the hashtags.
