Many people experienced a difficult 2021, and it was no different for the 90 Day Fiancé franchise cast members. The past year saw numerous franchise couples calling it quits, as multiple 90 Day Fiancé couples split including Michael Jessen and Julia Custodio and Tania Maduro and Syngin Colchester. At the same time, other estranged couples managed to reconcile. When it comes to the 90 Day Fiancé season 3 couples, no duos split this year. However, many of the season 3 couples found themselves in new spaces as major life events occurred in 2021.

Since season 3 filmed several years ago, it's rare that none of the couples broke up in a franchise that regularly sees divorces and nasty fights. 90 Day Fiancé season 3 saw two of the most beloved couples joining the franchise, as both Alexei and Loren Brovarnik and Kyle Huckabee and Bajaree “Noon” Boonma were introduced. Meanwhile, Melanie Bowers and Devar Walters were also praised as being a sweet and underrated couple who were featured. However, not all season 3 couples were popular, as one of the most disliked franchise villains appeared in season 3.

The third season of the hit TLC franchise saw mega villain Mark Shoemaker joining the franchise with his now-wife Nikki. Mark’s actions during the third season disturbed fans and caused him to become one of the most notorious 90 Day Fiancé cast members of all time after his relationship with his significantly younger partner aired. Discover what happened to the six couples who appeared on 90 Day Fiancé season 3 in the past year and what the duos are looking forward to in the upcoming year.

Alexei & Loren Brovarnik

Loren and Alexei Brovarnik 90 Day Fiancé

After being hailed as fan-favorite cast members, Alexei and Loren had a major year in 2021 filled with epic highs and difficult lows. Loren gave birth to the couple’s second son on August 16, but experienced massive stress as the baby required extra time in the hospital and COVID-19 protocols made it difficult for the couple to see their little boy. Loren opened up about the stress, exhaustion, and depression that accompanies childbirth in real and raw Instagram posts. While the family is currently dealing with COVID-19 infections, they are a loving unit of four.

Loren and Alexei have continued to appear in new franchise content after being named one of the most likable and relatable franchise couples. The couple is often praised for their Pillow Talk commentaries, which led to Loren and Alexei receiving their own spin-off show for 2022. Loren and Alexei will appear in Loren & Alexei: After The 90 Days to continue to showcase their family dynamic. Although the couple is generally well-liked, some franchise fans feel as though they appear in too much content when viewers would prefer to meet new couples.

Kyle Huckabee & Bajaree Boonma

90 Day Fiance Love Games-Kyle and Noon

While some viewers think Alexei and Loren are overexposed in the franchise, Kyle and Noon are one beloved franchise couple who haven’t overstayed their welcome. Noon said last year that she hoped to have a baby in 2021. While the couple is still happily married, they remain childfree. Noon and Kyle enjoyed many 2021 adventures together, including snowboarding and time with family and friends. While Kyle and Noon didn’t appear to have any major life events to announce in the past year, many 90 Day Fiancé fans are happy to see the sweet couple thriving.

Melanie Bowers & Devar Walters

Like Kyle and Noon, Melanie and Devar are one franchise couple who fans rooted for. American Melanie and Jamaican Devar are the rare 90 Day Fiancé couple who met on vacation and managed to make their subsequent marriage work. Melanie and Devar ended their baby run in 2017 with the birth of their daughter, Avah, while Melanie is also the mother to her son from a previous relationship, Hunter. While Melanie and Devar didn’t announce any major milestones in 2021, they did remain a happy and united family. The couple enjoyed a year filled with lots of family time and plenty of quality time with each other and Avah.

Josh Strobel and Aleksandra Iarovikova were one of many Mormon couples featured in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, as American Josh had his Russian partner convert to his religion despite her fondness for alcohol and partying. The couple, who now shares two children, moved to Australia for Josh to attend medical school. They since moved back to the US and currently live in New Orleans. The couple remains a happily married Mormon family of four.

Fernando & Carolina Verdini

Fernando and Carolina Verdini dealt with fidelity issues after the Florida man and the younger Colombian woman started a life together in the US. Carolina accused Fernando of cheating on her and dealt with being homesick and Fernando’s rude mother. However, Carolina and Fernando have managed to make their marriage work and still remain married. The couple lives together in Miami and Carolina appears to have adapted to her major move.

Mark & Nikki Shoemaker

Mark and Nikki Shoemaker are one of the most infamous 90 Day Fiancé couples, as viewers were disturbed that 58-year-old Mark brought a 19-year-old to the US to be his new wife. Mark treated Nikki in a controlling manner as though she were his child- when in fact, she was younger than all four of his adult children. Mark and Nikki have been absolutely silent since they tried to sue TLC for broken promises after 90 Day Fiancé season 3 aired and the couple was widely called out by concerned viewers.

Many fans have since worried about Nikki and her well-being. While Mark and Nikki are still radio silent, one of Mark’s daughters took to TikTok in the past year to call out her father and slam him for being just as bad as viewers think. Mark’s daughter confirmed that Nikki was still with him as far as she knew, though she wasn’t currently in contact with her notorious 90 Day Fiancé father.
