There are many reasons why 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way's Ronald and Tiffany didn’t last. Sure, it looked like they had a love for the ages, but in the end, Maryland-native Tiffany was just too evolved for the relationship with her South African husband.

Tiffany met Ronald on a trip to South Africa. She explained on the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off that she had never experienced the type of chemistry she had with him. Their connection was so strong that Tiffany returned to Ronald's country six months later. It was then that he proposed to her on a cliff that had figured prominently in their first meetings with each other. Despite their love for one another, Ronald was harboring a terrible secret. As it turned out, he was a gambling addict and had a criminal past, not to mention loads of debt. Throughout the early days of his courtship with Tiffany, Ronald failed to divulge his condition to her until after he proposed on the show. However, they married and Tiffany relocated to South America to be with her husband, since his legal issues were a hindrance in his getting a visa to the United States. South Africa was a far cry from the security and safety Tiffany and her son Daniel were used to. Soon, she began to wonder if she was making a huge mistake.

Tiffany confessed on the hit TLC show to not having done her due diligence where her relationship is concerned (via Cheatsheet):

"I definitely should’ve asked Ronald more questions about his record when I did see it, but there was so much already going on with the gambling addiction and everything else. But now at this point, I want to make sure that there’s nothing he’s hiding because my future and Daniel’s future is on the line. There’s definitely some more information that I need to get."

Ronald, Tiffany, Daniel 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way

Tiffany continued to try to make things work with Ronald in South Africa, but she eventually moved back to the States with Daniel. In the time since their season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way ended, Tiffany gave birth to the couple's first daughter, Carley Rose. However, their celebration was short-lived. In August 2019, the now-single mom of two posted an ominous message to Instagram, stating that when she first started dating Ronald before revelations about his gambling surfaced, she was "so blissfully happy," but in the time since, "things and people change." Finally, in January 2020, Tiffany announced they were splitting. Ronald has since taken full responsibility for the demise of the marriage.

The real casualty of Tiffany and Ronald's failed marriage is her son Daniel. Watching her son bond with her husband on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way was truly remarkable. The two appeared to have an unwavering bond that Daniel at age nine really seems to need, given his birth father's tragic murder. Their connection was one of the more touching moments during the Tell-All special when Daniel spoke about his sadness knowing Ronald was in his native South Africa alone without any family. Daniel referred to Ronald as "dad" and Ronald referred to Daniel as "my boy." He's now losing a second father.

As for Tiffany and her new baby Carley Rose, Ronald will unlikely be able to effectively parent from afar, leaving her, once again to pick up the pieces. Gambling addiction is a disease and it's one that hopefully Ronald can overcome with hard work and dedication. However, Tiffany, more than anyone, finally deserves to get her happy ending.
