Chuck Potthast landed in hot water this week for messaging a married 90 Day Fiancé cast member, and the father of Libby is now experiencing fallout from his seemingly harmless DM. Season 7 star Emily Larina revealed that Chuck had messaged her to inquire why they had so many friends in common, which led to some franchise fans accusing the Potthast family patriarch of hitting on the married woman. When Chuck's alleged girlfriend reached out to Emily with some harsh words, Emily clapped back on social media and criticized the Potthast family.

Viewers of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After have put the Potthast family on blast for the entirety of season 6, as many viewers already disliked Andrei and Libby Castravet. Now that the couple and Libby's family are back airing their typical drama, many franchise fans have called for TLC to remove the chaotic and offensive family. Andrei has been criticized for his extremely vulgar language, while Libby's brother Charlie is believed to be the American version of her rude husband. Meanwhile, her sisters are equally disliked by viewers, as is Chuck. 90 Day Fiancé fans fear the family is angling for their own spin-off show, though they have been landing in the news due to drama and outrage from fans.

One fan posted to the r/90dayfianceuncensored sub-Reddit to share Emily's Instagram Story that show a conversation between her and Chuck's alleged partner. The messages show a woman named Angela Maria Yates accusing Emily of starting drama with Chuck “because you’re ratings are low.” The woman claimed she’s been dating Chuck since last September and that the father is clueless on social media and was not hitting on Emily in the messages he sent to her. She then called Emily a drama queen and said that she was clout chasing. Emily clapped back in her Story by writing a message about the Potthast family. “Is everyone from the Tampa area renting out pre-foreclosed, dilapidated homes or part of an MLM? Asking for a friend….” she wrote to her followers. You can view the post below:

One of Emily's followers reposted her story and called the Potthast family "a God fearing pornstar/criminal family" due to the graphic OnlyFans content that many of the family members have shared. While many viewers dislike the Potthast family, some commenters believe that Chuck wasn't intending to hit on Emily by messaging her. "I honestly believe he was just saying Hi. DMs have been so sexualized that a man saying "hi" is treated like catcalling lol," one commenter expressed. However, the Potthast family is still heavily disliked by viewers for their stuck up attitude, lazy demeanor, cultural ignorance and shady business practices. Emily echoed many fan complaints by calling out the family business, since viewers have accused Chuck of being a slum lord.

Though viewers have expressed outrage over seeing the Potthast family on TV, TLC continues to give Libby and her relatives a platform. Their most recent drama features Charlie showing Andrei around the family business, which is complicated by Charlie's intense dislike for his brother-in-law. Meanwhile, Libby is working from home and wants a nanny, but her husband is against the idea. Overall, viewers have expressed that Libby and Andrei's stale storyline brings nothing new to 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? or the franchise in general.
