Viewers have been questioning if Karine was not engaging with Paul, or if they are putting on a brave face despite the allegations and disputes. It's highly possible that she was trying to calm down their son so that his crying wouldn't drown out the singing. With that said, Pierre may just not know any better. Many parents can attest that toddlers can have temper tantrums for no reason whatsoever. The noise and singing may have set him off, rather than any dislike of Paul or reflecting hostile feelings. In any case, Karine made it a point to enjoy herself and blow out the candles.
