The 90 Day Fiancé franchise is filled with drama and speculation, and viewers have wondered if certain cast members used their partners in order to relocate. Often, fans think that foreign fiancés are pretending to love their American partners so they can move and start new lives. Of course, some viewers don't think the foreign partners are users. Some fans are even offended by those types of accusations. That being said, there are a lot of instances where couples appear to be missing genuine romance and connection.

As 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? cast members Julia Trubkina and Yara Zaya have pointed out, not everyone wants to live in America. Many foreign fiancés only apply for their K-1 visas because they want to live with their partners. However, some relationships have come across as suspicious, especially those that quickly ended in divorce. Fans took to the r/90dayfiance sub-Reddit to share thoughts about foreign fiancés who didn't seem to be in it for love.

Usman Umar

Lisa from 90 Day Fiance in a pink top looking seriously at Usman in a traditional Nigerian outfit.

Usman Umar and Lisa Hamme were one of the most mismatched couples to appear in the franchise. Given their glaring differences, wide age gap, and lack of chemistry, many viewers were confused as to what the Nigerian man saw in his American partner. Lisa, also known as "Baby Girl Lisa," has since established herself as one of the most tactless cast members. Viewers became convinced that Usman was feigning his relationship with the brash American to leave Nigeria. "Usman literally only spoke about being in the US every time he was interviewed like, he didn’t even pretended lmao," one Reddit commenter observed. Many other viewers have agreed that the relationship was dubious.

Natalie Mordovtseva

Natalie Mordovtseva and Trish Youngquist on 90 Day Fiancé forced smiles awkward

Natalie Mordovtseva is busy clashing with her husband Mike Youngquist's disastrous mother Trish on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? It is blatantly obvious to viewers that the Ukrainian woman and her American husband were not really ready for marriage. Many viewers were shocked when the couple wed last season, given their abundance of issues and Natalie's clear disdain for her husband. "Natalie couldn’t seem to stand anything about Mike, yet was desperate to marry him," one viewer observed, adding, "He’s apparently the polar opposite of what she was looking for, and she said herself that she didn’t love him." Though Natalie remained fixated on getting her ring, she mostly demonstrated contempt for Mike.

Paola Mayfield

Paola and Russ Mayfield from 90 Day Fiancé

Paola and Russ Mayfield from season 1 are especially interesting since they are still married. The parents of baby Axel have made their marriage work for over seven years, though some viewers still doubt its authenticity. When Colombian bombshell Paola joined Russ in the US, she clearly was more fixated on living in America than being with her husband. Paola soon took off to Miami, and Russ decided to join his bride after her move. This caused fans to doubt Paola's feelings for her spouse. "She can barely stand to be touched by him. Their early Pillow Talk appearances had then social distancing like COVID had already come," one fan observed about the couple's connection (or lack thereof).

Hazel Cagalitan

Hazel Cagalitan in 90 Day Fiance4

Hazel Cagalitan and Tarik Myers have confused many viewers with their bizarre behavior and 90 Day Fiancé storyline. When Hazel came out as bisexual, the couple chose to pursue a polyamorous relationship. They sought another woman to join their romance. However, many viewers felt as though Hazel was far more connected to women than she was to her husband. This led many fans to speculate about whether or not Hazel truly wanted to be with Tarik. "I think she said something along the lines of 'This is my one chance to leave the Philippines' or something in the earlier episodes," one commenter observed about their relationship. Since Hazel was facing homelessness, many viewers thought marrying Tarik was her best option.

Leida Margaretha

Leida Margherita 90 Day Fiancé

Leida Margaretha has established herself as one of the most notorious 90 Day Fiancé villains. Though the Indonesian woman claimed she came from an extremely wealthy family and was a doctor in her home country, viewers have slammed her for being a compulsive liar. Some viewers believe Leida left Indonesia to escape a dark past that allegedly involved criminal behavior. "Leida said that once she marries Eeyore, she'll get to stay in America. Never did she say she'll be happy to marry the love of her life. And after they said their vows, she did the 'raise the roof' motion and said, 'Yay, now I get to stay in America,'" one fan wrote about her marriage to Eric Rosenbrook. Given the abhorrent way that Leida treated Eric's teenaged daughter, it was clear that she didn't respect her partner or his family.

Luis Mendez

Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez in a 90 Day Fiance confessional

Luis Mendez is considered by many franchise fans to be a foreign fiancé who blatantly used his American spouse. Luis had a very short-lived marriage to 90 Day: The Single Lifstar Molly Hopkins. The couple had explosive arguments that led them to split after just half a year together. Very shortly after his marriage to Molly ended, Luis moved to New Jersey and married another woman. This sparked theories that the Dominican man had been using Molly from the start just to get to America. "Luis is a ruthless grifter. She didn’t deserve that," one commenter observed. It is widely believed that the younger man completely used the lingerie CEO and feigned his feelings for the mother. Molly has moved on with Brooklyn cop Kelly.

Annie Suwan Toborowsky

David and Annie Toborowsky on 90 Day Foody Call-5

Annie Suwan Toborowsky and her husband David appear to genuinely have feelings for each other and they have become two of the most recognizable faces of the franchise. However, many viewers recall the bumpy start to the couple's relationship. Before David became the supportive spouse of his culinary queen, he was considered by many viewers to be creepy and even predatory. Many viewers suspect that the Thai woman used David to start a new life but eventually developed real feelings for the significantly older American. "He was an old, bald, obese, hideous, broke sloppy drunk who haggled down her sinsot from two water buffalo to one pregnant water buffalo. Literally haggled her parents. She looked like she was in mental agony the whole first two years," one commenter wrote about their relationship.
